Experience
I currently tutor three IB Economics students online, providing personalized lessons designed around their individual weaknesses and school syllabus. Each session combines detailed slide decks, past paper analysis, and tailored worksheets that I have developed using IB command terms and mark schemes. I focus heavily on improving students’ essay structure, data response accuracy, and evaluative depth—skills that are essential for achieving top marks. By incorporating real-world examples, active discussion, and Socratic questioning, I encourage students to think critically about economic policies and connect theory to real-life applications. As a result, my students have shown measurable improvements in their mock results and a noticeable increase in confidence when tackling higher-mark questions.
In 2022, I founded the Economese Project, a student-run initiative that delivers IGCSE-level Economics to 20 Vietnamese high school students aged 14–15. I designed the curriculum from scratch, connecting syllabus topics like demand and supply or market structures with relatable examples from Vietnam’s economy. I also introduced the Investopedia trading simulator to help students apply theoretical concepts through simulated investing and market analysis. This made learning more engaging and deepened their understanding of core economic principles such as opportunity cost and market equilibrium. Leading a team of peers, I ensured our lessons were consistent, interactive, and relevant—transforming Economics from an abstract subject into a practical and exciting discipline for our students.
From 2020 to 2024, I led an English teaching program at Huynh Van Ngoi School, coordinating 20 international students who taught English to 25 Vietnamese children in grades 4 and 5. I organized five small teaching groups to allow for personalized attention, and together we created interactive worksheets, word games, and storytelling sessions to build students’ confidence in speaking and writing English. I prioritized adapting lessons to each child’s learning pace and personality, fostering a supportive environment where students could develop naturally. This experience taught me to identify diverse learning styles—an approach I now apply when tutoring Economics by adjusting lesson structure, examples, and assessment methods to each student’s strengths.
In 2023, I interned at Kantar Media Vietnam with the Client Solutions team, where I analyzed life insurance and consumer behavior data across demographics. I presented my findings on market segmentation and designed data visuals to guide targeted advertising campaigns. This strengthened my ability to interpret quantitative data and draw meaningful insights—skills I now use in IB Economics tutoring to help students confidently analyze graphs, trends, and elasticity data, especially in Paper 3 quantitative questions.
In 2022, I also published an independent research paper in the National High School Journal of Science on Vietnam’s economic development. Using World Bank data and Vietnam’s input–output tables, I identified textiles, electronics, and machinery as the key export sectors driving the country’s growth while examining domestic value addition and import dependency. Conducting this research refined my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and logically—a skill I bring to my tutoring by teaching students to structure their essays with concise arguments, supporting evidence, and contextual understanding.
