I am a native mandarin speaker originally from China. My teaching philosophy for primary Chinese is to build a strong foundation in vocabulary, character recognition, and sentence structure while keeping lessons engaging and interactive. I focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in balance, and gradually introduce exam techniques as students progress to upper primary. By making learning enjoyable and giving step-by-step guidance, I aim to help students gain both confidence and good results in Chinese.

I don’t have professional teaching experience, but I have taught my friends, guiding and explaining concepts and I found it very rewarding. My teaching methods: 1) I would explain concepts slowly and ensure the learner fully understands. 2) I would do a little test or pop quiz to monitor their progress and how much they remember. 3) I don’t believe in being angry or scolding people, as it can negatively affect moral. It’s perfectly fine to make/commit mistakes, but I am happy to explain why they are wrong and provide them a correct reason/answer. 4) I don’t like to rush and teach for the sake of teaching. My goal is for every learner to fully grasp and understand the material. Therefore, I will explain concepts in depth and give further guidance.

I have been tutoring for 18 years. I did work at Edupoint (2013-2015) at Jurong East Central. I think the owner that I used to work for later sold off the place. Most of my students are from the primary level. Most of my secondary level students have been with me since their primary school days. For the most recent WA 3, one of my student from Monfort Secondary scored the highest in his cohort. He was also the only one who passed in his class (72/100). This year my students are from Rulang Primary, Maria Stella, Changkat Primary, Mayflower Primary. For secondary students, this year they are from Monfort Secondary and ACS International. The one from Monfort is in Secondary two this year and he scored the highest in his cohort (18/25). He was also the only one in his class that passed. The one from ACS International is Russian and although Chinese is very difficult for him but he still passed , scoring a Grade 4
