Experience
I recently completed my PhD in Chemical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where my research focused on sustainable fuels and CO₂-to-methanol catalysis. Throughout my PhD and current role as a Research Fellow at NUS, mentorship has been a constant and highly rewarding part of my work. I have mentored over 14 students across undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels, helping students develop not only strong technical understanding, but also confidence, resilience, and independent problem-solving skills.
One undergraduate mentee I supervised went on to receive the 2023/2024 NUS Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize for his work on our CO₂-to-methanol project and is now pursuing a PhD at MIT. Experiences like this reinforced my passion for teaching and showed me the importance of adapting mentorship styles to different personalities and learning approaches.
Beyond research, I have extensive experience simplifying complex STEM concepts into intuitive and approachable explanations. My background includes publications in leading journals such as Nature Communications and ACS Catalysis, as well as recognition through awards including the Breakthrough Energy Fellows Explorer Grant and First Prize in the Hydrogen Innovations Challenge.
I especially enjoy teaching Chemistry and helping students move beyond rote memorization toward a deeper conceptual understanding of the subject. I am available for O-Level, JC, IB, AP, undergraduate chemistry, and STEM enrichment mentoring.
