My approach to teaching is to practice questions with my students. I will be a facilitator and guide my students in understanding the question, and the steps to take to solve the question in a systematic approach as I believe learning through the process is more beneficial than being fed the answer. I am a patient and motivating tutor, and I trust that my students will become confident learners under my tutelage. I have accumulated over 5+ years of private tutoring at the primary school level in English, Math and Science. My longest student was from Greendale primary school, i taught her from P2 to P5. subjects covered include English, Math and Science

I specialise in teaching children with special needs or pre-schoolers, and I have taught in early intervention centres. For mainstream tuition, I have taught children in primary and secondary levels and prepared them for major exams, PSLE and O/N Levels. Most of my students enjoy their lessons, I do not scold them or get impatient with them. I scaffold my teaching and work on areas that need help, so that they can achieve the next level. Currently, I am teaching 13 students. Among which 8 are for early Literacy/numeracy, 2 for Primary school Maths, 1 for combined science (Physics and Chem) and N level Maths and 1 more for Sec 2 Maths. I also have a 16 year-old student with special needs, who is preparing for WPLN (Workplace Literacy & Numeracy). I use assessment books, exam papers, additional worksheets and IXL/ipad or games during my lessons. I do look through the homework and help student with it when needed. I do not give alot of homework, especially if students need to cope with their school homework or other subjects. I do give homework and adjust accordingly to the student's level and workload.

In my undergraduate days, I provided 1-to-1 English and Math to primary school students and they were able to consistently perform well in their school tests and exams. I have also previously worked as an enrichment teacher, providing art and science enrichment classes pre-school students so I am familiar with various teaching strategies to engage your little ones meaningfully.

I have 18 years of teaching experience, of which 16 years were in MOE neighborhood and top schools (Secondary). Having struggled with English myself in my younger days, enabled me to know and close the learning gaps of students weak in English. I have taught many students from China who hardly spoke English to achieve B or above grades in their O-level English examinations. Many of my students in Humanities (SS/English) improved from F9 to A1.
