I am a graduate IB student with strong academic performance and experience supporting fellow and junior students through a school-based tutoring initiative focused on Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics (HL and SL). In this role, I help students strengthen their understanding of core concepts, improve problem solving ability, and develop effective exam strategies tailored to the IB curriculum. My teaching approach is structured and diagnostic-driven. In the first session, I conduct a comprehensive diagnostic review of the syllabus to identify a student’s conceptual strengths and weaknesses. This is followed by a short diagnostic test designed to assess exam technique, including how effectively they interpret questions and structure answers under time conditions. I also take time to understand each student’s preferred learning style, whether visual, auditory, or practice-based, so that lessons can be adapted to maximise retention and engagement. Subsequent sessions focus on a balanced approach across three key areas: conceptual understanding, application of knowledge, and exam technique. This ensures students not only learn the material but also gain the skills needed to perform confidently under exam conditions. My goal is to create a supportive and structured learning environment that helps students improve efficiently and build long-term academic confidence.

My name is Sofiya, and I am currently a student studying Early Childhood in poly. I have experience working with children in an international Montessori preschool setting as well as teaching my younger cousins in my spare time. I specialise in teaching Montessori phonics and English to children who are 4 years old and above, to lower primary level. I have my own set of authentic Montessori phonics materials, and relevant phonics and english worksheets which I use during my lessons.
