My name is Molly, and I am originally from Guangdong, China. I am a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English as well. I recently completed my graduate studies at the University of Hong Kong. Due to my husband's relocation to Singapore, I plan to settle and pursue my career there. In my free time, I enjoy exploring different cuisines and practicing yoga. Since 2020, I have been providing one-on-one language tutoring sessions to students. With a patient teaching approach and rapid language learning progress observed in my students, they often recommend me to their friends. It is a source of pride for me when I witness my students go from zero to engaging in fluent conversations within an hour. I earned my PGDE in 2002 and have since taught in MOE schools, international schools, private tuition centers, and as a private tutor in students' homes. I have also been teaching kids with special needs such as autism and my own daughter has down syndrome, also sped. Currently, I work as a contract teacher in a private school and have a few tutees of different levels whom I have dedicated myself to teach until they complete PSLE. I also have experience in teaching children with autism, though progress depends on several factors. I can teach confidently the different strategies to solve various kinds of problem sums as well as basic concepts. Math is my favorite subject, and I'm dedicated to making it more accessible and enjoyable for my students. My primary goal is to instil a lifelong passion for learning and critical thinking in your child. I have taught English for all levels, Primary 1 to Primary 6, in schools, hence I am familiar with the latest Primary English syllabus and pedagogies. I am able to cater to students of different readiness levels and have taught students of various needs. I also have PSLE English Paper 1 marking experience and am familiar with the writing expectations for PSLE. Prior to becoming a teacher, I taught E Math, A Math and Physics to Sec Sch and JC students during undergraduate days in NTU. As a part-time tutor with 10 years of experience, I have taught countless students. All of my students saw an improvement in their results under my tutelage. I had a student whom I tutored in sec 1 and sec 2, and he managed to move from Normal Technical to Normal Acad stream within these 2 years. I also had a primary 6 student taking foundation math, improving her score from 6/100 to 31/100 within a few months. I focus on practices so students become familiar with questions asked during exams. For comprehension, I go through the various types of questions asked and the best ways to understand and answer them. For essays, I go through extensive content so that students will have a wider knowledge of the exam topics. Academically, I scored and A for O-Level English and Math, and A for A-Levels General Paper. I graduated with a degree in Public Policy and Global Affairs.
