I am a MOE trained school teacher, teaching chemistry in a government school for more than 30 over years. I have tutored many O level and A level students in chemistry. I have developed effective teaching and learning strategies that have helped many O level and A level students learn and internalize hard chemistry concepts effectively. I taught many students from RIJC, HCI, VJC, JPJ, CJC, Nanyang Girls high, SCGS, NUS sch of Maths & Sci, .... I am an enthusiastic teacher who strives to help students do well in their academic pursue.
Many of my secondary schools students have improved from F9, E8, D7 to A grade.

So far all my 8 IP sec 2 and 3 chemistry and physics students have scored A grade in their exams. IP schools that I have taught are Nanyang Girls high, Dunman Secondary school, SCGS, St Joseph Instuition, NUS school of Maths and Science, ACS(I) and RI.
My students from mainstream like Nan Hua secondary, and Fuhua secondary, Hai Sing Secondary, and Bukit batok secondary school are scoring A grade for their tests and exams. One of my student even scored highest in the whole level for his final exam in chemistry and physics, when he was in secondary three in 2020.
I am a very experienced chemistry school teacher, who has taught in a school for more than 30 years. I have developed my own effective teaching and learning strategies that has help students score well in GCE A level H2 chemistry, many improved from E, S or U grade in the GCE A level examinations to A and B grade.
My 2019 RI and VJC students scored A grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examinations improved from U and E grade respectively.
My 2020 ASJC student scored A grade in H2 Chemistry for the GCE A level examinations after teaching him for 1.5 years.
My 2021 student from RI scored A grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examination after teaching him for 1.5 years.
My 2021 other RI student scored B grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examinations after 5 weeks of tuition improved from E grade.
My 2021 YIJC student scored B grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examinations improved from C grade after teaching him for 6 months.
My 2022 weak ASJC and ACJC student scored B grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examinations after several months of tuition, improved from E grades.
My 2023 student from RI student scored B grade for her preliminary examinations improved from S grade from her Mid-year examinations after several weeks of tuition, she went on to score B grade for H2 chemistry in the GCE A level examination.
In 2024 my JC1, RJC student scored 23/30 for his 1st chemistry H2 tests.

Bridget from 2019 RJC scored A grade in GCE A level exam in H2 chemistry, improved from U grade. I’ve had a weak foundation in Chemistry since secondary school and in JC I’ve been scoring consistent U’s. However, Mr Lim has helped me improve my Chemistry in the span of about half a year to achieve an A for GCE A level examinations! Before this I was even considering dropping to H1 to cut my losses, but thankfully I persevered and was able to improve my grades in time for the final exam. Mr Lim makes difficult chemistry concepts easy to understand and devises ways to quickly memorize things like organic chemistry reactions which would otherwise be painstaking to remember. He’s a very dedicated teacher that ensured i knew how to answer every ‘type’ of question that could be tested, which greatly increased my confidence and mastery of the subject.
Lucas from 2019 VJC scored A grade in GCE A level exam for H2 chemistry improved from E grade.
Mr Lim tutored me in Chemistry starting from august and in that short period of time before my A Levels, Mr Lim helped bring my Chemistry Grades from an E grade in prelims to an A grade in GCE A Level examinations and I have Mr. Lim to thank for his years of experience and knowledge and in chemistry. His resource of past year papers and extra unseen practices have helped improve my confidence and provided the rigor needed to improve. Mr. Lim is definitely an experienced teacher that is well-grounded in chemistry.
2020 student Lin Myat from ASRJC who scored A grade in GCE A Level exam for his H2 chemistry after tutoring him for 1 year 6 months wrote Mr Mathew Lim is a diligent teacher who cares for his students. He has many years of teaching experience, and is very proficient in teaching chemistry. RI 2021 student Caleb, who scored A grade in GCE A Level exam for H2 chemistry after tutoring him for 2 years, wrote

In 2024 my JC1 student from RI whom I tutored since 2023 scored 23/30 = 76% for his JC1 terms tests, average score for his class is 16/23.
