Teaching approach: I adopt seminar style teaching when conducting lesson. This has proven to be useful as students feel more comfortable when discussing their areas for improvement and hence able to tackle them more efficiently. This also allows me to focus more on the key areas while at the same time develop their critical thinking ability. After each session, I would also send an update report to the parents/guardians regarding the session summary and areas for improvement, such that the parents/guardians are aware of the progress. I have been teaching for more than 2 years with more than 500 sessions which mainly focuses on Economics for IGCSE, IB, GCE ‘A’ Level and AP syllabuses. Most of the students I have taught have shown a massive improvement, especially on areas such as essay writing and diagrammatical analysis. One of my students in particular, who faced challenges in understanding the concept of economics, was able to attain 7 in his IB exam upon reviewing his conceptual understanding.

I have been giving home tuition to children for primary school maths and science as well as E Math and Chemistry for about 2 years now. The reason why my students are successful is because I know when to be strict and when to be friendly. They have to feel comfortable so that they are not afraid of asking questions but I’m definitely more strict when it comes to homework and practice papers as the fastest way to improve is through practice. I make my own practice papers so that students are familiar with question types outside of the syllabus and are not fazed when unfamiliar questions pop up for PSLE as seen from the trend these past years. They have all been scoring grades equal to or higher than AL 2. I also have some recommended textbooks that they have to purchase for classes as well.
