Hello! My name is Immanuel, and I am an undergraduate currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business. I am a IB Diploma graduate (Class of 2022) from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), waiting to start university at the NUS Faculty of Law after recently completing my National Service. Although I have zero years of formal tutoring experience, I have spent many years helping my younger sister through her schooling journey. Despite having her own tutors, she would rope me in to offer my input on particularly challenging maths problems or tasking essay questions. That small personal investment of mine reaped joyful dividends when she was able to rally after a less-than-ideal prelims to score 4 points in her 'O' Levels last year. I firmly believe that the key to excelling in any subject - maths, sciences and humanities alike - is to own your solutions. The methods you employ to break down challenging maths problems or find answers in complicated passages should be settled upon by you, not forced onto you by your teacher or tutor. As a student, I found that taking ownership of my problem-solving deeply reinforced the concepts that I was being taught in school. Furthermore, it allowed me to approach each and every question with a unique focus, rooted in the confidence I had in my own foundations. As a tutor, my role would be to guide you towards your own problem-solving pedagogy, allowing you to recognise patterns in the problems that you face, and helping you connect the dots to arrive at your solution.
