I am a Quantitative Finance Undergraduate at NUS under the Department of Mathematics. My key academic skill is Mathematics. I do not have any past tutoring experience, however, I have consistently scored no less than A for Mathematics throughout my student life up to JC. This made me a target for my peers in terms of peer tutoring/learning. I was able to help my peers understand key Mathematical concepts taught in class and methods to tackle different types of questions, the 2 factors I believe are the fundamentals to scoring well. This would be the same approach I will take in tutoring students in Mathematics. I believe that many students do not score well as they are unable to identify question types, and how to apply various formulae or functions they are taught. Skill comes with practice but is pointless without an adequate level of understanding.

I have one year experience teaching pure physics to a Sec 4 student and helped her to achieve an A1 for physics. I have also taught 2 JC students H2 physics, one attained an A while the other a B. I adjust my teaching style according to how familiar the student is to the content as well as the learning speed of the student. I believe that the student learn best by first gaining a proper understanding of the concepts rather than rushing into practice questions. I am naturally inclined to physics and am able to simplify complex concepts to the benefit of my students. I have also taught a secondary 4 student E math and have raised his grade from a C6 to a B3 over the course of 1.5 years.
