I recently graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with Honours (Highest Distinction/First Class). I am extremely passionate about the English Language and have been teaching primary level English for the past 3 and a half years, and primary level Math for the past year and a half. I have taught 3 students- 1 from P5-P6 (English grades improved from 50-60 to a B for PSLE), 1 from P3 till now (struggled to pass English but is now managing to pass more consistently), and 1 who is studying at an international school and whom I have taught from student's equivalent pf P4 level till now (grading at this school differs, but have helped student to improved from 1-2 bands in English and Math since tutoring began).

I am still teaching in a SPED school I’m also giving tuition to students with special needs. Teaching experience of 9 years at a Special Needs school (under MOE) with students with Autism, ranged from 7-14 years old. I have been in SPED school for 9 years, tutoring for about 7 years. As for tuition, I have taught primary 1-6 mainly Maths and English for both students with special needs (that are in mainstream schools) and neurotypical students. I work with students with ASD and ADHD. Hence, I am well versed with the mainstream curriculum too. I taught a student in a mainstream school and she moved from a pull out class for Maths, to rejoining the main class after showing progress. Experienced in making adaptions and modifications to suit different learning needs of students with special needs. Worked with students of different needs and challenges across the years, built strong rapports and supported them in their learning. I am able to adapt teaching materials to students levels; I use a lot of concrete materials especially to teach math, providing visual supports if needed etc. I use a lot of hands of activities or adapted worksheets for students during tuition to meet their learning needs and make learning fun I have also completed grade grade 8 piano and am open to teach beginner piano skills.

Throughout my years of tutoring various students, I notice and empathize with students' hectic study schedules and heavy study loads. To help them, I explain concepts straight-to-the-point, enabling them to grasp difficult ideas more intuitively. For any notes that I make, I ensure that they complement, instead of repeating, their school material. Such customized help, allows students to understand concepts more intuitively, while not adding to their already-heavy study load. I hope that I may benefit even more students, by bridging their learning gaps in these beneficial ways.
