Experience
I teach Mathematics. 5 years of tutoring experience, private, at Jamiyah and Pertapis Children's Home and at tuition centres.
Mostly those who lack foundation in Mathematics such as Normal technical and normal academic. But I've also taught the more academically inclined. Initial scores from a fail to a pass. Most improved at least 2 grades.
My past teaching experiences are proof of the patience and dedication I put forth for my students. I have had diverse experience in working with students of different backgrounds and recognize the value in catering to different learning needs. My teaching experiences in Jamiyah and Pertapis Children’s Home required me to explore ways to simplify math concepts and adopt hands- on learning, since the students were from the Normal Technical stream and had trouble with basic mathematics. I also recognized how my students lacked motivation and confidence in their academic abilities and worked to build good rapport with them by including interactive activities into the lessons, accompanied by continuous encouragement. With this, their attitude towards learning improved drastically, which I believe is the greater achievement in the eyes of an educator.
While grades are important, I aspire to equip my students with the skills of how to learn, such as how to make summary notes, best methods to study and remember information, and others, which can be applied across subjects and throughout their education journey. All in all, I aspire to guide students to be motivated to continue seeking knowledge and to improve themselves.
