I'm currently an undergraduate at NTU taking a double degree in Biomedical Sciences and Chinese Medicine, where half the modules are taught in Mandarin. I scored As for my Chinese subjects at Primary and Secondary levels, and took H2 Chinese Language and Literature in JC. I've tutored my peers in school and received positive feedback from them, helping them improve their grade. Therefore, I am confident that I will be able to impart the necessary knowledge to my students and in the process, help them improve on their Chinese Language standards. For my students, I will routinely go through their school assignments/exam papers with them and answer any doubts they have regarding the subject in order to help them understand better. On top of that, I can prepare suitable assignments/ worksheets for my students depending on their abilities/workload.

I am teaching at an enrichment centre, registered under MOE. The centre is called icreative learner. I have 3.5 years of experience teaching kids aged 9 to 12 years old, and I thoroughly enjoy working with this age group. Currently, my love for the English language pushed me to pursue a Masters in Creative Writing. I hope to impart the same passion for English and writing to young children and be a stepping stone for them into the literary world.

As a recent JC graduate fresh out of the education system, I know exactly what are common mistakes and misconceptions, and will nip them in the bud to push my student's grades upwards.

I started tutoring in the year of 2012. I tutored 6 polytechnic students – three from Nanyang Polytechnic, two from Singapore Polytechnic and another from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I am very proud of all my students as I believed that they had done better with my help. The student doing Mechatronics in NYP aced Circuit Analysis, Engineering Physics and Engineering Maths 1 & 2 in 2013 and he got a perfect GPA in S12014. One student doing Computer Engineering in SP also got a perfect GPA in S12014 with ALL DIST and one A while the other student doing Aerospace Electronics in SP aced Digital Electronics I & II, C++ Programming in 2012. Due to poor foundation in maths and science, the other two students struggled badly. I helped them cultivate habits of analytical thinking and problem solving, and they managed to pass all their modules. I am still tutoring them and will see them graduate.

I have not done any tutoring for tuition/private students. However, I have been engaged by my university to give consultation sessions for my fellow students and the passing rate for those subjects improved. I taught analogue electronics and circuit design fundamentals. Personally, I have a strong interest in teaching maths as I believe that maths is not as hard as people make it out to be. I aim to be the tutor that I needed when I was studying maths and hope to improve the grades for my students.

I'm a current special needs educator at a MOE Special needs school. I have been working with students with moderate to severe autism for 2.5 years. I'm familiar with the autism-friendly evidence-based practices- prompting, modeling, visual cues, and reinforcement strategies. Previously, I had taught a teenage boy with mild autism who was sitting for the IGCSE curriculum. I created a daily schedule that indicated the subject and topic of the lesson taught. I created a reward chart as a form of positive reinforcement. I used different colored file dividers to differentiate the subject worksheets being filed. I ensured he filed the worksheets in chronological order. In 2023, I did freelance teaching for a preschooler with ASD for 3 months. My lessons were taught with the help of visuals and videos to help him understand the concepts of the topic. I used simple and repetitive instructions during tuition, to help him to stay focused during the lesson. As part of his progress, I did short mock tests or weekly assessments as well. I provided feedback to the parents about his academic progress and checked in with them if they would like to work on other areas such as his behavior, communication, or social skills.
