I have professionally tutored a primary sch student and a secondary school student for mathematics. At first both of them were rather slow learners, however I started to try out different methods to help them better understand the concepts which eventually worked. The secondary school student went from failing his math to a B grade which is a huge leap forward. Other than this, I have been teaching in a volunteer programme for two years now. The programme takes in students who are from difficult situations (be it broken families, childhood trauma or even learning disabilities). These experiences of mine definitely played a part in my improvement as a tutor. Right now, I am a tutor who focusses on customising learning according to the child's needs. This way, they get to learn better and would grasp the concept easily.

A passionate, patience, full of enthusiasm teacher and my name is Rachel. Being a teacher, no two days are the same. I get to teach different experiences and ideas daily and even learn while teaching, hence I decided to take this path of learning. I teach mainly the 4-6 year olds in classroom setting of up to 25 students which helps me to gain an ability to cater to a diverse range of learners and nurture them as individuals. It also allows me to learn to be well-organise and deliver the learning in a fun and engaged way. I transitioned from teaching in well-known local centres such as MindChamps to offering private tuition, in order to provide an even higher level of personalised support for each child. My students — some of whom went from failing their English exams to scoring As and Bs — now count English amongst their strongest and favourite subjects. I specialise in making online lessons multi-sensory, interactive and effective. I introduce and reinforce concepts through inductive learning, memorable activities, and each child's interests and hobbies. Following that initial foundation building, I guide each student through intensive and targeted exam practice based on marking criteria. I proactively adapt to each child's ability level. My training at the Dyslexia Academy of Singapore (DAS) has equipped me with specialist literacy strategies to make major improvements in struggling students' grades.
