I have 2 years of experience teaching for Primary 4 and Secondary 3 chinese. I started teaching Chinese when I was in Junior College and my teaching method is student orientated i.e focusing on students' needs. I will first understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and subsequently moving on to exercises to train them on their weaker areas. I am very flexible and willing to listen to student's needs, depending on their school workload. When i was teaching my Secondary 3 student, he jumped from a F9 to a pass within 6 months, given that he has a rather weak foundation in Chinese. I would give spelling every week as well as phrases that are relevant to use in school compositions. I personally took higher chinese since primary school and continued to take chinese literature when I was in Junior College and obtained A+/Distinction for the national exams. Hence, I am very familiar with the syllabus and the techniques to score well in exams.

I am from New Zealand and have recently moved to Singapore. I have a Bachelor Degree in Health Science from university and have tutored people in the following areas: Primary 3 Science Primary 2 English Secondary 1 Maths (equivalent in NZ) Secondary 3 (equivalent in NZ) Chemistry and Biology Although I have been a tutor for mostly secondary school in New Zealand, I would be very comfortable tutoring children in Primary 1-4 in Science or English as I currently have children in a local primary school and have a very good concept of what is expected to be learnt for assessments. I believe my strength is in Science as this is what I studied in University and I am very passionate about children learning science. I currently work with children with disabilities in a volunteer setting in Singapore. Please note that my qualifications do not equate to Singapore standards as we do exams called NCEA instead of "O level" etc and PSLE do not exist in New Zealand. Also subjects that were taken are not available in the description (eg: I took Classical Studies in the "A level" equiavalent but this is not available to choose). I would prefer to tutor online if possible, but am open to having students at my home. As I have children of my own, I am unable to visit other people's homes to do tuition.
