During my Secondary 3&4 days, I volunteered at CDAC to give science tuition to needy lower secondary school students. The class size was 8, which is rather big for my friends and me. But I was able to help the students by giving them assistance whenever they were stuck on a problem. This helped me gain more experience in terms of being more patient and understanding toward my students because they sometimes may not understand a topic after being taught, and I had to try other form of methods to teach them. Proud to say, a few of my students were able to improve by 2 grades or more, with 3 of them getting A1 for their sciences during their secondary 2. I carried on with my volunteering into my JC days, and expanded my teaching to upper secondary school students (mainly from Zheng Hua, West Spring and Swiss Cottage Secondary School), specializing more in sciences. Most of them were in the range from D7-C5 during their end-of-year for Physic and Chemistry during Secondary 3. Good thing is that I was able to guide them and improve their subjects, with 3 of them getting A1/A2 in their Physics, and 4 of them getting A1/A2 in Chemistry for their O levels. Currently, I am teaching pure Chemistry and Physic to two Sec 4 student and science to a Sec 2 student.

In terms of tutoring, I have no official experience. However, in University, I was nominated to be a Communications Coach under the Centre for English Communication, to mentor university undergrad students at Singapore Management University for a module called "Writing and Reasoning". As a Comms Coach, I interacted with my students, arranging consultations and reviewing their scripts beforehand. During the consult itself, I would elaborate more on the comments I had left on their scripts and guide them towards the best conclusions without giving them the answers. Over the course of one semester, I had 36 consultations, and some students consulted me multiple times, which validated my teaching abilities. The students that did consult me for multiple assessments achieved A grades for their assignments.

I also had a tutee that went from a B to A* in the past however I felt that she was naturally gifted and just needed a bit of guidance from me. However, I am very patient as I have always been tutoring my younger brother at home. I have tutored primary school students for the past 5 years and tutored my brother since they were young. I am very patient towards slower learners and am willing to try different methods of explaining. My students' grades have all improved.

I recently graduated from Raffles Institution after completing my A levels. Although I do not have any formal experience teaching, I have done volunteer teaching in the past. I mostly taught lower primary students thus I have experience handling students who are very active. I attended a phonics course and can tutor young children who have difficulties reading. I took my O levels in 2020 at Cedar Girls', where I obtained 7 points raw, 3 points nett. Although I took my O levels two years ago, I am relatively in touch with the O level syllabus as I tutor my secondary school siblings who are in Sec 2 and Sec 4 respectively. I am comfortable teaching at all levels but I prefer to teach A level students as the content is still fresh in my mind.
