I have started teaching at Princess Elizabeth primary school in 2025. My experiences include: - Been teaching preschool children since 2019 as part of my major (intern experiences) - Presently teaching fundamentals of coding to preschool children aged 4 to 6 years old (enrichment programmes) - Presently also tutoring private primary school math (2 long term students - P4 & P5) For my teaching methodology, I do strive to ensure that the child cultivates a positive attitude towards learning mathematics. I place more emphasis in this compared to making sure that the child attain better results in a short period of time, as I perceive it as only a short term goal. I focus more on refining the child's application to concepts, identifying the questions and working on their strengths/flaws. Ultimately, providing a relaxed and enjoyable space for learning mathematics. I also believe that to achieve positive results, the student and the teacher has to work alongside together. Hence, optimal attitude towards learning is important to me. My P5 student scored well for her recent test, from borderline pass/fail to attaining 75% overall. These students have also expressed that they enjoyed my teaching and liked how I relate real life experiences to math concepts (i.e. measuring time).

Through my fondness of teaching, I previously taught young students (under 12) Block-based programming in a tuition centre (such as Scratch & MIT App Inventor) where I prepared the course materials from scratch as teaching programming is a relatively new subject. I also coached a Primary 5 Mathematics Olympiad student from Bangladesh in both Mathematics & Science.

Teaching Experience: I was an MOE teaching scholar from 2009-2012 and have significant experience teaching O & A level Math and Physics classes previously at Little Professors Tuition Centre (Marine Parade) and Budding Minds Tuition Centre (Serangoon Gardens), as well as private tuition for A level candidates in Physics and Math. Education: I graduated top of my class from NTU Physics with a CGPA of 4.99/5.00 & was awarded both the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal and Koh Boon Hwee Scholars’ Award. I then did my PhD in Neuroscience at University of Oxford followed by further research training at Harvard Medical School. Hence, I have extremely strong competencies in Math and Science. Pertinent to this application, I scored As in my A-levels Math as well as distinction in S-paper Math. Additional information: I have been engaging in tuition teaching from 2007-2013, but was away from Singapore from 2014-2020 for my postgraduate studies. Hence, it has been a while since my last tuition assignment in Singapore. However, I have been catching up on the O and A level Math syllabus for the past two years and am highly confident that I will be able to guide students towards their desired grade if given the opportunity.

*Ex-MOE teacher from SCGS primary school* Ms Yvette is an ex-MOE teacher with more than 10 years of experience teaching Primary Science. Most of her teaching years were spent teaching at SCGS Primary where she was also a coach for the Future Problem Solving (FPS) Competition. For FPS, her students qualified for the national finals and one won Best Writer in 2020. For the Plain English Speaking Competition, one of her students competed in the finals. Ms Yvette's graduate background is in the Sciences. She holds a Masters in Science Communication and a BSc with a double major in Zoology and Conservation Biology. She was a trained facilitator for the E2K Science programme (Excellence 2000), offered at SCGS Primary for high ability students with good collaborative problem-solving attributes.

I am an A level graduate from JPJC. I do have experience tutoring my cousins and friends who shared academic difficulties in primary and secondary school subjects such as Math Physics Chemistry and Tamil and helped them improve in their subjects by grades. Ive always shared deep interest in teaching people as my teaching style is to instill deep conceptual understanding and connect the concepts with real-life scenarios to better understand the subject. This way the subject will be easier to study as foundational understanding is important. And furthermore I venture deep into their knowledge and clear common questions and doubts that hinders them from understanding the subject deeply.
