I have been a part-time tuition teacher in Singapore for a couple of years. My students were predominantly in primary and secondary school ages, and they averaged high B — A grades in their finals. Recently, I have been teaching undergraduate and graduate students at a university in the US, so I am comfortable teaching students of different age groups and backgrounds. I firmly believe that it is more important to understand concepts and actively test your understanding instead of relying on rote memorisation. This requires patiently identifying a student's weak areas and exploring concepts. The needs of my students are important and that may require pushing certain knowledge boundaries. I develop personalised learning plans and notes for most of my students (as needed).

I have many years of experience teaching part-time both at a tutoring centre and privately. I have taught students from SJI (International), UWC, ACS (International), OFS, and CIS in English (Literature / Language & Literature), ESS, TOK, and EE. I have also guided students in writing their Common App essays / Personal Statements. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from a top university. I studied at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), one of the top 3 IB schools in the world, where I was a recipient of the prestigious Ministry of Education (MOE) Humanities Scholarship which covers full tuition and school stipend. I achieved 7 points in English Literature (Higher Level), History (Higher Level), and ESS (amongst other subjects). I also took the GCE 'O' Level examinations at one of the top girls' schools in the country, Cedar Girls' where I scored A1 in English and English Literature. I was also the recipient of the Best in English Literature Award.

I have 1 student that I am tutoring at EduFirst for Sec 4 Express geography and social studies, who said "You are better than my school teachers". In 3 months, I helped pull her geography grades from C's and D's to an A in her weighted assessment. I have another private P2 student for English and Math. As she have no exams, there is no result-based evidence. However, I gave her worksheets as tests, which she shows small improvements. Additionally, I have tutored my juniors, cousins and in church settings for various subjects.
