I am a Singaporean citizen, full-time online Mathematics and Economics tutor. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics at SMU. I worked in Singapore's banking sector for nearly 7 years before moving to France. Currently, I am only able to conduct lessons via zoom/google meet as I am based in Europe. If you are preparing for A level Economics exams, or O levels A maths/E Maths exams, I will be able to share with you the best tips/tricks to excel your exams. Scoring an A for Mathematics at O level is important as it will give you a huge advantage to enter the Junior College and be ready for university. For Economics subject (A level) each of my lesson is conducted online, 1 hour: I will be going through important concepts and exams techniques, how you can draft your essay and answer that gives the best scoring possible. You will need to practise writing some essays as homework, and we will be going through at the following lesson. We will also be discussing about current affairs and how it affects current economics situation, which will be useful for your GP as well. For Mathematics (sec 3 A Maths and E Maths) at O level, my lesson is conducted online, 1 hour session: I will be assisting with your homework and go through topics that you needed help most. For Music (O level or ABRSM Theory) - I am able to guide you through grade 5 ABRSM theory exam. I am trained as a Classical pianist and I am currently doing Jazz piano in France. My lesson is engaging and interactive online, you will learn to take responsibility and be proactive in your own learning and development. Overtime, you will see a huge improvement in your results. If I feel that during the first lesson, you might not be benefiting from my style of teaching, I will recommend tutorcity to match another teacher for you. I scored As for GP, Chem, Biology, Economics and Maths for A-levels. Three tutees so far. First tutee (Pure Biology) improved from C6 in Mid Year Exams to A1 for O-Levels. Parent's testimonial available upon request. Second tutee (A and E Math, Biology) for 2 years from Secondary 3-4. Grades improved from C6 to B3/A2 standards. Third tutee (Biology, Chemistry) via online Zoom lessons. Tutee displayed rekindled interest in the subject and was responsive in furthering her knowledge beyond the scope of the syllabus. Grades improved from B3 to A1 across 5 months. Testimonial: From C6 to A2 in 5 months. After receiving his tests results when school resumed after circuit breaker, my son realised that he needed help. He had head knowledge, but it was not translated to desired results. What difference did Jing En do to improve my son’s grades for Biology? My son opined that 1) Clarity – Jing En was able to explain the concepts clearly and concisely. With this clarity, comes understanding. Thus my son was able to use the key words and knowledge to answer the (examination) questions. 2) Systematic – Jing En is systematic in his teaching. Given that he had a very short time frame to work with my son, he planned and prioritised the topics to cover from the start, taking into consideration the preliminary examinations and all the way until the date of the last ‘O’ level paper. He kept a record of the lessons. 3) Thorough – He was thorough in his teaching. Not one that watched the clock, he ensured that he covered what was planned, checked for understanding, before concluding the lesson. Do I have any reservations when I engaged Jing En, yes I did. He was young, just out of school and serving his National Service. He was not a former teacher or received any training in teaching. He came as a recommendation from a good friend and he has stellar results from his ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels. Jing En’s passion to teach shone through. Being young has its advantage, he is able to relate with my son and there was less barrier in communications. Importantly, my son would ask and clarify, this deepened learning and understanding. After the first lesson, Jing En updated me on what he taught and what was required. He provided regular updates, which was re-assuring and over and above what was required from a tuition teacher. In fact, he was the only tuition teacher, out of the 2 others that my son had, who provided regular updates. I do strongly recommend Jing En to any student who require help in their subject. I tutor children during my free times and am most willing to help children in their languages and Mathematics. My past experiences in education include (most recent and frequent one) tutoring a pair of siblings, 4 and 6 when I first taught them, on an almost daily basis, helping them with homework, reading, communication, English, Math and Chinese. I am patient with children and have much experiences getting along with them as well. I am an experience teacher currently teaching in Katong School which is a special needs school in Singapore. I teach functional Maths and English to children with learning disabilities, including children with autism. In my 20 years working with children with special needs, I have gained deep knowledge in Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy and hence are able to assess their challenges and subsequently accord appropriate and relevant basic intervention. I am passionate and committed in my work. In addition to full time teaching, I do private tutoring, below are summary of my tutuee: 1. K2 mainstream (suspect delay). Domain: Fine Motors skills. Child has issue with writing and with my deep knowledge in occupational therapy, I am able to devise a writing program for the child. The child is now able to independently and writes with correct letter placement and letter formation. 2. P2 mainstream (child with autism). Domain: Mathematics and English. Teach child basic maths concept and basic reading, writing and comprehension skills. In my teaching I incorporate TEACCH program (structure, work system etc ) and Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) for ensure that the child's (child with moderate autism) learning is optimised. 3. I am a 21 year old tutor, having graduated from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) with an International Baccalaureate Diploma, awaiting matriculation into NUS in 2024. I am experienced tutor with 3 years of private tutoring, with students ranging from primary level to junior college students. I am specialised in teaching SL Chinese, SL Economics, SL Math and HL Chemistry at IB level. I have tutored a total of 8 students in this academic year, bringing about sustained improvements in their academic grades. Most notably, one HL Chemistry student has achieved a grade 7 in his recent mid year examinations. One of my greatest tutoring achievement thus far would be witnessing my student jump from a C6 grade, to an A2 grade within the span of half a year, thereby promoting to the Express stream. My teaching style revolves heavily around firstly ensuring that the student is able to fully understand the concepts, before moving on to tackling the answering techniques. I am also very patient, and will always try my best to make the lesson as engaging yet productive at the same time. With over 15 students taught over the last 2 years, I am an experienced tutor who has an excellent track record, and am willing to not only help every student reach his or her full potential, but to also gain a better appreciation for the subject.
