I have 12 years of experience teaching students from preschool to secondary 2. I have taught around 40 students with dyslexia ranging from P1 to Sec 2. I create my own resources that cater to the individual student's needs. I have produced good results in the short term. For example, students who failed the subjects have passed with better grades. I have experience teaching students with dyslexia too. I am patient and believe in being emotionally sound with my students to create good relationships with them as well as their parents. I have 6 years of tutoring. I mainly tutor Chemistry O Levels. I have tutored about 12 Chemistry Sec 4 O Levels students from various schools including CHIJ, Raffles and NUS High School. I have also tutored about 6 students for Sec 4 Math, Physics and Biology. All of them have shown a lot of improvement. One of my current student for chemistry went from Cs/ 60% to A’s in every single test now. I was teaching in Dimensions primary school (24 P1 students, 29 P3 students, 34 P4 students, 13 P5 students) and I am tutoring full-time now. I have had close to 4 years of private tutoring experience where I tutored a primary 4 boy with English & Math, and a primary 2 girl with English & Chinese. I also previously worked at a neighbourhood student care centre as a part-time teaching assistant for 3 months, where I mostly guided primary school students with English, Chinese and Math school homework and also conducted and marked English and Chinese spelling tests. After I went through with students the questions they had difficulty with, they were able to fully grasp concepts and apply them to other similar questions. I can also usually tell if students are just pretending to understand and will always make sure to test them on their understanding, and will spend however long it takes for them to fully understand the problem at hand before moving on to the next. Grades wise, I got 6 Distinctions for GCE O Level; A1 for O Level English, Chinese and Mathematics, A2 for Additional Mathematics and B3 for Higher Chinese. I graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a Diploma with Merit in 2018 and also received the Infocomm Media Development Authority Gold Award for being the top student of the course. I also received the Edusave Merit Bursary and Edusave Certificate of Academic Achievement from 2005 – 2014 and 2017 – 2018 for being in the top 25% of my cohort in terms of academic achievement, and was also on the Temasek Polytechnic School of Design Director’s List for AY2016/2017 and AY2017/2018.
