After the GCE A Levels exam in November 2011, I worked in a tuition centre for 1 year to teach O Level Mathematics (both A math and E math) as well as humanities subjects. I have also taught more than 20 JC students for H2 Economics and most of them were happy with their A level results.

I have taught 2 students from OFS before and the rest (20+) are from JCs. Most of my JC students got As and two IB students both got level 7.

In the 1990s, I hve taught in Yamaha for 4-5yrs both the pop piano and group children courses.Currently, I'm teaching in my own studio as Ive a grand and upright piano for teaching and doing duets with my students. However, if time permits, I can still travel to students home.
I am proud to have a special needs student whom under my guidance, has since passed his g6 piano exams. I believe with all my years in this field, I am confident to handle all students from different grades with different needs to different personalities.

My favourite subject is Mathematics because there often exists more than 1 method to solve a problem and this makes the subject rigid yet flexible. I am an avid football fan and I also swim occasionally.
I have taught my brother since he started primary school, and I have since learnt that the main reason why students struggle in their respective subjects is because their foundation is not strong. Hence, when an unorthodox question comes up in the exam, they get stumped and their confidence in the subject drops.

I believe that experiential learning is a useful form of learning because actively doing something leaves a bigger imprint on the mind compared to listening and absorbing. I have personally gone through this teaching method so I can bear testament to it. My biggest achievement is winning the Local Award for the Google Science Fair and the main contributing factor was the fact that I actively went to pursue my interests in Science and Maths and learn through solving problems.

When I teach your child, my aim is as follows:
1. To equip your child with the fundamentals by exposing them to the myriad of problems that exam questions can be posed, so as to give your child more confidence in taking the paper. Merely explaining the concept to your child is not enough as I feel that my words could fall on deaf ears. Instead, I would require your child to re-explain the concept back to me in order for me to believe that he/she has mastered the concept. This method also prevents your child from drifting away from the lesson and engages him/her.

2. To teach your child time saving habits that allow him/her to manage his/her time more efficiently during the exam.

3. Answer your child's questions and clear up any misconceptions that they may have regarding the respective topics.

I am always available via Whatsapp to answer any questions with written solutions. I may even call your child to ensure that he/she understands not only the method used, but as well as why that particular method is utilized in that situation.

I have experience giving tuition to a primary 1,3,4,5 and 6 students for their maths. After a year, their grades had improved from a minimum of a pass grade to getting Bs and As for their final year Exams.

I had also given tuition to my cousin who took her 'O' level in the previous year. I had taught her Science Physics and Elementary Mathematics, which helped her to obtain A2 for both her subjects.

I had also experience in handling primary school students. I was an after school care teacher for about 4 months after I had graduated from polytechnic, while waiting for university to start.

I believe that with my experience, I can help students to improve both on their studies and attitudes towards it.
