I have about one year experience teaching my relatives' kids primary school and secondary school English. I am a recent NUS Economics Graduate student. I have been a student reporter under the NUS Economics Department and have written articles for them as well.
In terms of teaching methods, I usually try to find out the student's strengths and weaknesses in the subject during the first lesson, after which I will prepare a lesson plan catered to the student which will target his/her areas of weaknesses, and propose strategies on how the student can effectively master the subject. I will also provide additional resources where necessary. These resources will be mostly in the form of my own notes (such as exam skills, tips and techniques) and newspaper articles or opinion editorial pieces, as I realise that it is important for the student to have a good grasp of current affairs and world events, as stressed by the education system today as well.

I accumulated around 4 to 5 years of teaching experience on the undergraduate level. In total, I have taught more than 150 students on the concept and mathematics of solid mechanics related subjects. I believe I have made the students understand and appreciate the subject better. The student feedbacks for my teaching were overall good with a grade of around 4.5 out of 5. I also attained a Distinction in an engineering mathematics subject during my undergraduate year. During my PhD study, I attended the Advanced Engineering Mathematics (M7805) and obtained a good grade of ¢__ԏÐA¢__Ô_æ¢ for it. I was also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate project supervision during my previous employments and PhD study. I received four years of research scholarship from Nanyang Technological University for my PhD study. During my undergraduate study, I managed to obtain a 2nd prize in the In-House Practical Training Programme. I believe I am a patient, meticulous and approachable person who will genuinely like to see my student improve.

Teaching materials: I will bring along MOE approved textbooks to explain concepts and illustrate examples to the student so that he/she can understand and apply the concepts better.

Teaching style and approach: For students who may learn slower, I will try to be more patient and teach him/her at a slower pace. For the fast learners, I may give some more challenging questions on the related subject for him to work on during his free time to broaden his knowledge as well as motivate his interest in the subject.

I always believe that practice makes perfect for students who want to score well in Mathematics. The best way for students to learn is to let them attempt the Maths questions and if they make mistakes, I'll correct them. I do not believe in blindly copying in order to hand in their homework assignments. I hope to give 'Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've fed him for a lifetime.'

I was one of the top in my cohort for the O Level Exams and I credit this to my perseverance, enthusiastic attitude towards learning and boldness to seek clarification when in doubt.
