I have been tutoring since 2010 for primary level to upper secondary school Mathematics, A-Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I have experiences with both NA and Normal streams, Math and Science. My previous students have achieved A1/A2/B3 for O'Levels E-Mathematics and Science (Physics-Chem) many after failing for Sec 3 finals. Math requires consistent practice, and I would usually work on engaging student with homework at the initial stage, to find out the problem areas and their learning styles. At the later stage, I would gently transition towards guidance and independent approach, where I would encourage students to take the front seat in analysing and solving questions. This helps to sharpen critical thinking and analysis, so that students apply it in practice when sitting for examinations, and witness improvements in results. My strengths include being able to quickly pinpoint a student's weaker areas and cater to a student's learning preference. Generally, I take a softer approach as this usually helps build confidence in them. My previous students have achieved A1/A2/B3 for O Levels E-Mathematics, many after failing for Sec 3 finals. Feedback that I have received are that lessons are at a comfortable pace and that my explanation of mathematical and scientific concepts which seem difficult, is simple and understandable. I believe that every student has the potential to achieve the level of success they wish to attain with time, patience and hard work.

I was a peer tutor (Mentor/Mentee Programme) in Victoria Junior College, giving academic advice to my mentee for H2 Mathematics, Physics and Economics. Over time, I became adept in performing thorough evaluations for my mentees to understand their level and needs. By monitoring their progress and making adjustments in my lesson plans, I was able to correct their mistakes in no time. In the end, my mentees saw increases in their academic performance and better grades overall. One of my mentees eventually came out with a perfect score of 90/90 rank points in her GCE A Levels. I am also a social worker who has worked with children and younger audiences. I was a volunteer at Mendaki, teaching young children and facilitating games that made learning fun. By employing empathy and compassion in my work, I am able to see which learning methods work for my students, capitalise on it and make learning easy and fun for them!
