I had taught GP to a JC 1 student after my graduation in 2020. She struggled in Paper 1 essay-writing as her argumentative foundational skills are weak and she lacked sufficient general knowledge from not reading about domestic and global news. After identifying her weaknesses, we made progress in identifying topics that she was interested in writing about and she made steady progress in writing cohesive points with backing evidence. I provided her with some resources and suggested reading material during the lessons. Her results improved from a low D (50%) to a B (61%) during her mid-term examinations and she felt no need for tuition anymore. For myself, I had gone for GP tuition in tuition centres before, but found it unhelpful and quit early on. I managed to get an A in A-levels by writing essays about topics I am interested in, and consulting with a senior classmate and school teacher. Hence, I am able to offer my understanding of how GP works as a recent graduate, one-to-one support for struggling students requiring a tutor-mentor.

I have about 1 year of experience teaching Primary and Lower Secondary Math. As both my parents are MOE teachers, teaching has always been one of my interests. I started off by tutoring my younger sister, who was in Secondary 1, as Math was her weakest subject. After a few months, her grades increased from a C6 to a B3. I then took on some part-time teaching jobs to gain experience and insight into this industry. I joined SparkleKidz Achievers, a childcare centre in Pasir Ris, where I learnt how to manage children between ages 7 to 14, and also gave them tuition besides helping them with their homework. I am currently with Math Accelerator Centre, a Math tuition centre located in Parkway Centre that specialises in PSLE Math. The centre provided me with opportunities to teach students of varying learning speeds, improving my ability to convey concepts to students of different levels. I feel that teaching is a very fulfilling experience, and nothing makes me happier than seeing my students improve due to their hard work.
