Being a Psychology major with keen interest in Educational and Child Psychology, I enjoy working with children. I also know ways to keep my students motivated and engaged. I see myself as a mentor to my students and someone they can look up to. In 2018, I worked part-time as an assistant pre-school teacher at Pink Tower Montessori. I helped my students with reading, English and basic math skills. I built close relationships with them. I tutored 2 primary school girls from 2019-2021. I am experienced in tutoring primary school Math, Science and English. I tutored my first student when she was in Primary 2 all the way to Primary 4. She was weak in basic problem sums. I guided her using techniques that are easy to follow. I collaborated closely with her mother and identified the areas she was weak in. I am highly passionate and committed. I source for questions on my own, and complied several topical worksheets according to the difficulty level. This allowed her to practice specific types of problem sums and get used to it. She improved in her studies, increasing by at least 2 bands. I taught my second student Math when she was Primary 3. Similarly, I compiled personalised topical papers. She scored 78% and increased to Band 2. I have also been teaching my youngest sister since she was Primary 1. I helped her improve her Math and strengthen her problem solving skills. She is currently 13 years old.

Graduated from NUS chemical engineering, currently doing full time PhD studies in NUS pharmacy. I have tutored H2 Maths and Chemistry for more than 5 years. Currently tutoring 3 students on both chem and maths from CJC, ACJC and JPJC. Previous tutees generally improved from failing to at least grade C and above while most of them scored B in A level exams. Have experience of 8 years tutoring secondary school (Sec1 to Sec4) and 5years of experience tutoring JC level (JC1/JC2 Maths and Chem). Students usually improve from failing to B or from C to A/B.

I have 5 years of experience teaching secondary school math during university, with 80% of students achieving at least B and above. I follow the MOE syllabus with the help of textbooks, assessment books and test papers to ensure that my students have the knowledge and skills they need to do well for their studies. I try to understand the students as best I can in order to communicate with them well and encourage them to do their best in their studies. I have also volunteered at a mental health organisation before where we teach youth coping skills, which I can impart to the student as well.

Graduated from RGS and have taught at Kumon before. I am patient and work well with young children. Currently teaching ten students, amongst which there is a hyperactive child, a child with conduct disorder and one with speech delay. I believe every child has different abilities, we need to cater to their level of competence to help them reach their potential. I have been teaching my own daughter. She is in K2 now and is able to do K2 assessment books confidently on her own. She is doing P2 books for math.
