Ever since Secondary school, I had a passion for helping my peers and juniors in their studies. I am dedicated and focused whilst teaching, ensuring my tutees fully understand a concept by using different methods that would best aid in understanding. Besides that, I am flexible in teaching and will cater lessons towards the student’s weaknesses and handpicking questions. I also make it a point to simulate exam conditions through having timed worksheets to help them accustom to exam stress. I attended Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and achieved straight 7s (A1 equivalent) for Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, attaining a 42 out of the maximum 45 points for the International Baccalaureate. As mentioned above, a majority of my tutees were my peers and juniors, totaling to approximately 15 over the 5 years of tutoring. To extend to that, I have also formally tutored my Primary 3 cousin and his improvements led to me being recommended to tutor one of his other classmates. My previous students were from Anglo Chinese School (Independent) from years 1-6, core and advanced Maths, Chemistry and Physics (IB) and sec 1-4 (express), A and E Maths, pure chemistry and pure physics. Each level approximately 2-3 students. As for their grades, those who were on the stronger side improved about a grade (estimated 10 marks) and those weaker improved close to 2 grades (estimated 15-20 marks) after about 6 months. On average, the amount I spend with each tutee is 6 months. Within the 6 months, those who were on the weaker side would almost all improve by 2 grades (estimatedly close to 20 marks) largely through the rebuilding of their understanding through the reinforcing of their basic concepts. The stronger students would improve by close to a grade by training their stress resilience and time management. I believe in the importance of building up the love for learning to ensure that each lesson is the most productive and enjoyable. Through this, the student will be able to pursue lifelong learning without the guidance of a tutor and aim for self improvement. Willing to sacrifice time outside of lessons to prepare materials and questions specifically for each student. Each lesson will be specially catered to the students needs and strengths as will not simply be low effort copy and paste lessons and will yield certain improvements.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Degree and had 8 years of experience in research at NIE, IMH and SGH. In my research experience at NIE, I worked with PIs, school teachers, PVPs and students. Prior to my research experience, I worked as a student coordinator for international students: mentored, facilitating between parents and teachers. I had taught English, Maths, Science and Chinese to 7 students while I was studying for my degree. They were ranged between Kindergarten to Secondary 2. One of them was a P5 student who had been failing Chinese for 3 years. After 3-4 months of tuition, he managed to pass his oral exam for the first time with above average results and his year end exam was a pass.

My name is Angus Tong, currently in my third year of polytechnic, studying Accountancy and Finance. Teaching experience mainly constitutes in the form of free tuition to younger relatives such as cousins and my younger sister to boost their knowledge and understanding of their weaker subjects. Subjects such as English are mainly thought with longevity in mind, in which the aim is to ensure in the future such as during their Polytechnic, University or work where command of language is needed to give presentations and establish communications better. Subjects such as Math's focus would be ensuring their understanding of the topic so as to allow for ease of application. Science would focus on memorisation of keywords and how to score for open ended questions. Accounting would focus on theory as it as the most crucial aspect with regard to scoring points and in the future should the individual decide to pursue accounting or business.

Just graduated from JC in 2021, and got 90RP for my results. Personally have not tutored any students before, but have helped out my friends in school sometimes when they needed help and they all have said that my explanations have helped them in understanding the concepts better! I prefer to tutor via the students asking questions and concepts that they personally dont really understand fully, and I can help them directly, straight to the point. I got offered double degree programmes of computer science and business from NUS and NTU with scholarships, and a double degree programme of business and accountancy from SMU. Currently waiting for status on scholarship acceptance from SMU.
