Currently a student from Stamford American High and a student from Geylang Methodist Primary I also volunteered for community service work at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) to teach the rudiments of English to primary school equivalent students. As these students are suffering from Cerebral Palsy, a neuro-degenerative disease, they require more time and patience to work with. As I was preparing for my A levels at that time, I only had a short tenure there. Notwithstanding, in my class of five students, one of them managed to qualify to sit for the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) after being deemed fit to do so by the school itself.

I have worked in the Preschool Industry for the past 21 years. I hold a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a Diploma certificate in Montessori Pedagogy and Diploma cert in Early Childhood Education and Teaching. My passion for teaching children them paved the way to move from being just a teacher to managing Childcare Centres and planning school curricula (both Thematic & Montessori). Full time tutor for over 10 years Result: Students enjoyed general improvement by one to two grades, some more. I specialize in JC General Paper. I also handled English Language and Language Art for IP, Express and Normal stream at Secondary level, English Literature at Secondary level, social studies at Secondary level. My Students profile: For the IP program, I had students from Nanyang JC, Raffles girls, Hwa Chong, Anglo-Chinese, Victoria. Presently, I have a total of 18 students, comprising 2 students from IPs (Secondary 3), 9 students from JCs and the remainder from Upper Secondary Express stream. (Some of them are in groups of 3 to 4 students per class.) Curriculum Outline: For composition, I focus on argumentative and informative essays, improvement in general knowledge and Singapore issues. For comprehension, I focus on summary and structured questions. I also incorporate English Language Art such as literary devices such as metaphors, personifications, settings, mood, tone, etc. in my lessons. I also handled IP Literature such as Poetry practical criticisms and read Merchant of Venice, Othello, Romeo and Juliet and so on. Methodology: For English and General Paper, I first carry out an initial assessment of the student on different grammatical components of English. Once the weaker areas are identified, we shall custom-design the course plan and agree to a full year course plan. After that, students and I will start working on student’s weaker areas. We will review student’s performance and progress on a monthly basis.
