I graduated from NUS with a BSc (First Class Honours) in Physics. I was a Dean's List recipient for 3 years and have won various awards for my outstanding academic performance. During my undergraduate in NUS, I was appointed as a part-time teaching assistant for first-year and second-year physics courses. I was also involved in Singapore Physics Olympiad training programmes. Till date, I have 8 years of experience tutoring physics and mathematics for various academic qualifications (O-levels, IB, A-levels, International A-levels and University).
My strong grasp in foundational understanding allows me to give clear explanations on various concepts. I have been commended for my ability to tailor my explanations based on the differing background of my students. Instead of rote learning and memorisation for exam's sake, I emphasise on genuine understanding of the course material and critical thinking as this will instil a growth mindset in my tutees. This approach bears fruit as all my tutees experience an improvement by 2 to 6 grades within 6 months of my tutelage.

I am familiar with the PSLE Math Syllabus as I’ve taught my friend’s brother last year and he got AL1 for PSLE Math. He’s in Raffles Institution now. Additionally, I've taught my younger brother for O levels E-Math/A-Math and I'm proud to announce that he jumped from C5 to A1 in his O levels. He's currently studying in Victoria Junior College. I am patient, friendly and easygoing. I enjoy dissecting tough concepts for my students to understand. I will never hesitate to dispense exams tips and efficient study methods that help maximise their exam marks. With my guidance, you will never blindly memorise formulas or solutions you don’t understand at all. At the end of the day, I want to let you know that Math is not that hard after all and be can be conquered by anyone.
Additionally, I'm deeply familiar with Computer Science and was fortunate enough to bag a slew of awards from a range of computing competitions. For instance, I was the top school scorer and achieved a silver medal in the National Olympiad in Informatics. I’m also ranked Top 3 in Google Developers YouthHacks Hackathon and received a special prize in NUS LifeHacks Hackathon where we competed against NUS CS students. Another notable achievement was when I ranked top 3 nationally (JC/IP Category) in a DSTA Brainhack Cybersecurity competition and was even invited to a DSTA scholarship engagement session with their officers. Internally at school, I was the Vice President of my own school computing club. During my tenure, I developed fresh curriculums and conducted ad box workshop lessons for a subset of the school population to pique their interest in computer science. I even created and published a website for my school and I was eventually merited with a prestigious school award (SGD1000) for my contributions towards the school community.

Experience
Currently teaching 1 Sec 4 student A math (less than a month). Taught emath to 1 Sec 3 express and 1 Sec 5 NA in June 2022.
Before I started tutoring, I used to help my friends and classmates in secondary school and JC with their Math and Sciences, most went from F9s to B3/B4 in secondary school and S/U to B/C. I didn't have regular sessions with them, but during our study sessions I would give them tips and advice on what to look out for and identify what are the common mistakes.
Personally I have been failing my Amath since sec 3 but my emath was always either A1/A2. But I managed to improve from F9 in sec 3 to C5 in mid year examination, to B3 in prelims and A2 in O levels. So I know what might be the common problems students face in a math.
