I am a storyteller with national libraries and content creator for Chinese language learning in different social media platforms. I was also awarded Advocate for Chinese reading among young children by National Library Board in Y2022. I will use creative and engaging ways to inculate interest in the language, instead of spoon-feeding and drilling. I am a strong believer that only interest can lead to long-lasting motivation and results delivery. Testimonial from NLB: Angela has been a Reading Advocate and an active volunteer with National Library Board (NLB) for the past 5 years since 2018. During these years, she has contributed to the NLB Chinese Language Services in many ways: Started withstorytelling sessions at Bedok Public Library to children in 2018 and 2019, she then worked with NLB to conduct parenting workshops thatinclude useful reading tips, book recommendations and storytelling skills, which are important for parents who would like to inculcate good reading habits for children. She had also developed two lesson plans for NLB's children reading clubs. These regular children reading clubs' sessions comprised storytelling, craft-making, and games in a one-hour session targeted at children from 4 to 6 years old. Since 2019, she has regularly shared quality picture books that she picks from the public library's collection, through social media, including theNLB's Chinese Language Services Facebook Group, with the aim to introduce parents to suitable children books. More than 100 posts have been posted to date, including the latest recommendations in the form of short video clips. Played an important role in supporting NLB's 2022 publication of "100 must-read picture booksfor children 4-8 vears old" These100 carefully selected titles by L B are classified into eight themes that meet the needs of children and are further divided into those suitable for children aged 4 to 6 or 6 to 8 years old. Participated in the creation of story videos for NLB Storytime, a regular programme for childrenaged4to8.Storiesshetoldincludebothheroriginalwork 《鹦鹉与小企鹅》 and other stories by local authors (《小熊的新衣》，《独一无二的伊努卡》and 《南极 ! * " (rights were cleared byNLB withthe authors or publishers). Contributed 33 podcasts based on original work written by her and her daughter. These podcasts were shared on NLB's Chinese Language Services Facebook Group weekly during 2020. Angela was invited in Oct 2021 to share her expertise in creating quality podcasts through a workshop with the members of L B Learning Communities. As a judge for the Primary School Group in the National Chinese Creative Reading Competition (NCCRC) 2021, which is an annual competition aimed to promote Chinese language learning through telling stories in creativeways such as dramatization and singing. Angela is highly passionate and proactive in her role as the Reading Advocate for Chinese Language Services and a volunteer with LB, and we wish hersuccess in her endeavours.
