I am an experienced qualified teacher and have taught both primary and secondary school students in the United Kingdom and in Singapore. I graduated from the University of Exeter with an honors degree in Biological Sciences and then studied at the same University for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education which conferred to me Qualified Teacher Status. I worked in secondary schools for 12 years in the United Kindgom. I taught combined Science to students aged from 11-14 and GCSE Biology and Physics to those aged from 14-16 years and A-level Biology to 16-18 year olds. I was Head of the Science department at my last school for 3 years before leaving for a career break and to travel. In Singapore, I have taught English classes at a popular English tuition centre for almost 9 years. The students have been aged between 4 and 12 years. At K1 and K2 level, I have prepared and taught numerous children of varying ability levels to read. At primary level, my specialism has been to improve my students’ English language proficiency, increase their primary school assessment levels (in particular the MOE curriculum) and to prepare students for the English PSLE examination by making use of exam style questions to boost their performance and meet their potential. My experience as a teacher is long and varied, I am flexible and am happy to teach students in a range of subjects and levels. I seek to understand my students’ strengths, weaknesses and learning styles and adapt the way I conduct their lessons. I aim to bring an enjoyment of the subject and love of learning to the lesson. I try to involve practical exercises wherever possible to enthuse and involve the student in their learning journey.
