About Me: I am passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a love for learning in my students. My goal is to create an engaging and supportive environment where students can thrive academically and develop a genuine interest in their subjects. I have gained valuable teaching experience through my role as a Substitute Teacher at New Town Primary School and my work with CampusImpact, as well as a part-time tutor since the start of 2024. As a Substitute Teacher at New Town Primary School (Jan 2022 - Feb 2022), I managed classroom activities, taught various subjects, and ensured a smooth transition for students during the absence of their regular teacher. During the pandemic, I led a team of five classmates in creating and delivering an innovative online enrichment program for disadvantaged students aged 7 to 12 at CampusImpact. My role involved: - Developing original syllabi for English and Mathematics, focusing on engaging content beyond standard school lessons. Pioneering the transition to online learning, ensuring lessons were accessible, interactive, and effective. - Crafting lessons aimed at fostering self-motivated interests in academic subjects, enriching students' overall educational journeys. - Leading and coordinating with a dedicated team to design, organize, and execute these specialized lessons, adapting to the unique needs of each student. - Monitoring student engagement and progress, using feedback to continuously improve teaching methods and materials. As a part-time tutor, I've taught English, history, and business management at both the secondary and JC level. My proudest achievements include - Bringing Y6 Business student from a 4 (40-50%) IN Mid-terms to a 6 (60-70%) in prelims - Helping a Y4 Langlit student from a 3 (30-40%) in paper 2 to a 7 (70-80%) - Guiding a Y6 Business student in their internal assessment to achieve a 7 (70-80%) Teaching Method: My teaching method is student-centered and adaptable. I believe in creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and questions. I'm currently studying Chinese in NTU. I managed to tutor a primary three kid after completing my A level exams. Specifically for this student, the teaching centred on building a strong foundation in character recognition and usage, both in speech and writing. These basics are important and to make lessons more interesting, I introduced a few engaging materials, such as comic books featuring 成语 (Chinese idioms), to instil a genuine interest in the language. This method not only made learning enjoyable but also provided practical content for the student's compositions. Although I had to stop teaching later on due to school commitments, I observed significant progress in my student's daily work, particularly in 听写 (dictation).  I believe that fostering an interest for the language through engaging lessons and relevant materials is key to a student’s growth in the language.

I enjoy having an interactive and joyful teaching style where I would use the notes I have compiled to help students understand and memorise key concepts easily eg Using words to memorise key steps. As I just finished all of my national examinations, I have relevant invaluable informations which can be shared to others. I have experience in tutoring as i tutored a student during the June holidays in 2023, helping the student improve her physics and chemistry grades from C5 to A1. I also taught another student during the march holidays in 2022 and I managed to pull up his Sec 2 math grades from C6 to A1.Though I am not MOE certified, I have been through the experience of the singapore education system and I have a myriad of tricks to ease the time of the students in this education system.

I had the opportunity to volunteer as a mentor and tutor for primary school students from lower-income families for approximately nine months in 2022. Academically, I taught Primary English, Mathematics and Science, assisted them with their homework, and explained, clarified, and revised concepts they lacked foundational understanding of or needed reiteration on. This was achieved through interactive learning activities, videos, practice worksheets, and revision papers based on the MOE syllabus. Additionally, I contributed to their overall growth in terms of character by establishing trust and ensuring that they were motivated to continuously learn and improve.

I have 7 years of tuition experience from primary school, secondary school and even IB program, I also have 2 years experience with teaching students with special needs. I primarily teach English, Science and Math. I hold a Diploma in Business Management from Nanyang Polytechnic, Bachelor of Science in Economics from University of London and also a Masters in Financial Analysis from University of San Francisco. Recently I was accepted as Computer Science student at NUS for 2024/25 intake. I aced my Maths Test for Uni Entrance exam and had praised for my achievement by my lecturer. I might be joining as TA for A-Maths although I do not have previous teaching experience. I believe I could share my knowledge in Maths and Computing with my 2 years experience as Application Developer at one of the best bank in Singapore.

I have helped my juniors to improve their abilities in problem solving skills and as I'm still a teenager, students don't feel like they're working with a tutor but rather like a study buddy. As a bonus, I am a very patient tutor, so I'll make sure students understand their lessons 100%. And after teaching many tutors their grades have improved significantly and one of my students got 100% in mathematics from getting a C.
