I am diploma holder from Singapore Polytechnic (Dip. in Creative Writing for Television and New Media). Academic Accomplishments - PSLE English: A - O Level English: A1 - Top 25% in Polytechnic cohort Details of experience: I am currently tutoring a Primary 1 student English. I have a monthly schedule that details the routine for each lesson. I also track her assignments and assess her weak spots. Each lesson starts with a reading aloud session, which I will focus on the student's reading abilities while expanding her vocabulary. After which, we will have a self-practice session where I assign her work related to her weaknesses (for e.g. grammar, adverbs). I will use this time to mark and evaluate her homework. Afterwards, I will mark her self-practice and go through her mistakes, along with her homework. I believe in the being patient because while English is a critical subject to master, it is important to put ourselves in the students' shoes to understand their struggles better. English has always been my forte so I would like to use my strength as a means to teach little ones. I tailor lessons to the students' needs and weaknesses. Homework is usually assessment papers which follow the latest MOE syllabus. Patience, guidance, and sufficient practice are all vital to their learning. I also recommend educational shows to parents so that their children can be fully immersed in learning, even outside of lessons and the classroom.

Hi, I am a JC student from Hwa Chong Institution. I have experience with volunteering tuition since Secondary 4. I have tutored primary 3-4 children before and I am currently tutoring primary school kids bi-weekly on voluntary basis. However, I am also comfortable with tutoring secondary school students. My method of teaching is not based on regurgitating nor repetition without understanding. I ensure that my tutee fully understands the concept instead of asking him/her to memorise formulas. This is because I believe that through true understanding of the topic, e.g. Math, my student will not need to depend on unproductive memorisation techniques and it will also ensure that what is learnt sticks on with my tutee for life. I would be very comfortable with tutoring mathematics from primary school all the way to secondary 4 A-math/E-math as I have consistently been exempted from mathematics exams from secondary 1 to 3 in HCI due to outstanding results. In sec 4 I have received a grade of 95/100 for the A math HCI end-of year examinations paper and a grade of 99/100 for E math.

The method I use to improve Chinese language is via the learning of vocabulary, which is the foundation for every language.
