Graduated with diploma in pharmaceutical science Just applied to university Currently, I have 3 to 4 months of paid tutoring experience, teaching primary science to secondary science (combined/pure biology). On top of that, I volunteered to tutor primary school students, teaching lower primary mathematics. For my teaching style/methods, I usually like to examine first then cater my teaching style to my student needs as all students are different. I do not believe in ‘one style fits all’ teaching method/style.

I have experience teaching primary school students for a year and I helped them to clarify concepts that they are unsure of and broke them down into much simpler ideas for them to grasp. I am currently a JC student and I can teach math, physics, chemistry and english. I helped a primary 5 girl in foundation math improve from a fail to an A and another boy managed to achieve straight As for PSLE. I once struggled very hard with understanding of certain concepts and that helps me to find out what students are struggling with better too, especially for secondary school subjects.

I have ten years of teaching in both MOE and International Schools as a teacher, Head of Department and IBDP Coordinator at Shanghai Singapore International School. Previously have taught in MOE schools - Compassvale Secondary School Over the span of my career, I have taught a students of diverse needs and catered to each of them to bring out the best learning outcomes. My lessons are engaging and I believe learning must be fun and memorable but also rigorous. I am patient and willing to provide a safe space for students to grow and ask questions. Expect my lessons to be challenging but be assured that with appropriate challenge comes appropriate support. Students learn best with careful thoughtful questioning to bring out their own knowledge and make learning memorable. Students I have taught often share that the close support and attention provided to them helps them to learn best. In my career, I have helped multiple cohorts of students achieve upwards of 80% A-A* in Igcse Geography and A Level Geography. I am proud to also say that my students have 100% passes. An average of 6 in IBDP Geography was attained by my former students. I have experience as a humanities teacher but have also held various management portfolios in schools. In my previous role of IBDP curriculum coordinator, I have met and assisted many students in areas of career and university guidance. Hello I am Tricia, a student from Nanyang Polytechnic currently doing a diploma in business management! Even though I may not have much experience in teaching, my teachers had asked me to coach my classmates on certain subjects such as Principles of Accounting, E Maths and N level when I was Secondary 3. Due to my help, some of their grades have improved from C5 to A2. Whenever I have to coach my classmates, I would teach them based on the questions they are unsure of first. Second, I will a show an example on how to do the question first and then make them try other questions. Sometimes I will ask my classmates to practice daily as I would sometimes test them during breaks.
