- Formally tutoring 3 P4 students and 2 P3 students for English, Math and Science - Sibling was solely tutored by me for the whole year in P6 for all 4 subjects. She improved drastically and achieved a score of 233 for PSLE. - Tutored SEC 3 sibling in Combined Chemistry and Biology for 2 months which improved her grade from F9 to C5 for WA2. - Tutored PRI 3 sibling in Science allowing him to score decent in his first ever Science tests, WA1 and WA2. - Tutored sibling in SEC 2 in Mathematics, improving grade from E8 to C5. - Tutored my sibling for Eng Math1 in Poly Currently tutoring P3 Maths & Science & Poly Engineering Maths via online tuition. My name is Lawrence Lim and I am reaching out to share a little about myself and my journey. I have dedicated 17 years of my career to teaching secondary mathematics, a subject I am incredibly passionate about. Recently, I experienced a stroke that has brought some challenges, including mild receptive and expressive aphasia. While this has been a difficult journey, it has also ignited a deep desire within me to return to teaching and support students once again. I believe that education is a powerful tool, and I am eager to share my knowledge and love for mathematics with young learners. I am currently working on rebuilding my confidence and integrating back into the teaching environment. I understand the importance of patience and support, both for myself and for the students I hope to work with. I am committed to creating an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere where every student feels valued and inspired to learn. Thank you for considering my application. I started tutoring students since 2016 while studying in NTU. I tutored students from primary school to secondary school level in English, Maths, Science (Physics & Biology), and History. I have taken up many students, some for 2-3 years until they graduated. One of my student went on from a struggling C student in English & Science to getting an A and getting into Victoria. I believe that the recipe to succeed is for a student to see progress, and be inspired to succeed. My teaching method is to follow the curriculum of the school closely, create a schedule of what to achieve and go through during our time together, and then keep track of the progress of each student with a refresher of the material at the beginning and end of the course. I have a detailed plan of what to teach or tutor based on my interactions with my student. My father and brother are teachers and I am very familiar and in-touch with the school's curriculum which I think is crucial for any tutor. I have a Masters in Applied Linguistics and a Degree in Linguistics from NTU. I have also consistently done well during my early schooling years and have a youthful heart and mind to keep up with the students!
