Experience
I am a NUS math graduate (Bachelor of Science with Honours in Applied Mathematics) doing tutoring full-time.
Tutoring experience: 4 years experience in tutoring olvl+alvl math. Currently(2025 academic year) tutoring 10 students in emath+amath. In 2024 academic year alone, I tutored a total of 14 olvl students in both amath and emath, and another 3 alvl students in h2 math who all stick with me through the entire academic year.
My 2024 olvl students all 5 of them went from grade improvement(sec 3 EOY to olvl results) ranges of F9 to B3, C6 to A2, C5-A2, C5 to A1, B4 to A1, in both amath and emath.
All my students achieve at least a 2 grade improvement. Some students also went from just pass in Sec 3 EOY to A2 in Sec4 prelims, some from F9 to B3.
In Dunman High, I was also a peer tutor for AMath, EMath, H2 Math. Assisted teachers in helping the weaker/failing students in catching up in class as well as pulling their grades up.
Academic Results: I consistently obtain the highest grade for all mathematics subjects (lower sec math, Emath, Amath, H2 math) from Sec1 all the way to JC2. I also consistently obtain raw mathematics exam scores that are close to full marks or even full marks. I was also top 5% in grades for mathematics in Dunman High School.
Teaching method: I have my own set of self compiled and nicely typed out topical worksheets which I will use to go through in class and set homework for. The questions are all handpicked by me from different schools prelim papers. I have a large and recent collection of past year prelim papers from different schools, so questions will never run out. All my questions given in class will purely only be past year paper questions as I feel those will better prepare my students for olvls or alvls as compared to assessment book qs or textbook qs.
I am a very patient tutor, and I believe strongly in proper mastery and understanding of each topic content. I do not believe in just spamming questions and hoping to "recognise patterns" while not really understanding the topic content to begin with, as recent trends in olvl+alvl papers are moving away from such question types. I rather the student approach each question with proper math critical thinking as it will benefit them more in the long run (this usually require them to have a decent understanding of the topic first). I will be assisting them in developing the proper thinking skills needed as we go through questions.
I am a full-time tutor who works 7 days a week, if I am not having lessons I am preparing for lessons/creating worksheets, so I can guarentee I will be very committed towards helping all my students in their academic journey. Teaching is also my passion since my own schooling days. I am also willing to help my students beyond lesson time, as long as I am not having any classes.
