I tutored underprivileged primary school children for 3 years, helping them with subjects such as math and science. Since this was still during the peak of Covid, sessions were held online and I made use of practice papers, as well as online games to help students understand the subject better. I have 6 years of home tutoring experience in Spanish, English and Math. I only have a few months part time experience at smaller enrichment centers for primary level English, Math, Science (ThinkTank) and secondary level French (French Language Academy), so not exactly relevant to this assignment. For home tuition, my students have been from SJI International, UWCSEA, Overseas Family School, Jurong Primary School, Methodist Girls’ School. For Spanish, they have seen improvements from the beginner level to intermediate confidence in spoken fluency, reading and writing. While they are below the standardized testing age, for their daily assignments most are able to achieve a distinction or one level below that. For English, the international school students were able to improve from IB grade 4 to 6 (internal grading), and local students saw improvements from 60s to the 70s grade range. Most of the international school students are also not native English speakers, so the focus is mainly on vocabulary and reading comprehension. As a polyglot fluent in 6 languages (English, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian), I have an in-depth knowledge of language learning skills and techniques, and incorporate these into my lessons in order to provide a tailored experience to each student in accordance with their learning needs. My tutoring focus mainly lies in English language with a focus on speech and conversational skills, and I have taught students from a preschool level all the way up to undergraduate and masters foreign students pursuing higher education in Singapore.

I am a local born Singaporean. As a student I excelled in my studies. I did my undergrad and postgraduate at NUS. I am now a Senior Principal Scientist at A*STAR. I have been teaching my own kids and friends kids out of my passion for many years. I am now looking to do it as a part-time tutor.
