I believe that one's academic ability/grades does not fully show that he or she can teach well. Teaching is another thing altogether which requires patience, the depth of understanding of the topics and subjects, as well as interpersonal relationship skills and recognizing if the student understood a particular concept or not, which is especially important because an unstable foundation, especially in subjects like maths will snowball and lead to more confusion in future topics which can seriously hinder a student's learning and understanding of the entire subject as a whole and therefore lead to poor grades.
I have utmost confidence that I possess the credentials as well as the ability to teach a student and help him to score better grades, especially in mathematics..
My Vision: Teaching the subject itself is not my sole focus. The subject itself may be important in the short run, but the important thing is to focus on both the short and the long term, and I particularly emphasizes on 'understanding concepts' rather than 'memorizing content' although the latter is becoming a growing, unhealthy trend under the present education system and this could be detrimental to the student's learning in the long run. Thus, I will shape my lessons to allow my students to learn better, understand more and not just memorize content and regurgitate during exams because doing that may allow one to pass and achieve satisfactory grades but it will never be consistent and the learner may even be rigid in his/her thinking. I would aim to fix this, to allow my students to be a learner, a thinker and be flexible in mind so as to achieve good grades in the present and also be valuable in the workforce in the future as a thinker, not just a 'do-er'.
