Hi, my name is Chiew Yong, a PhD graduate, and I’m 38 this year. I have been teaching Science and Maths subjects across all levels up to JC and including SL, HL, and IB levels for 19 years. I taught students from many schools including RJC, HCJC, ACS, ACI, and NUS High, to name a few worth mentioning. Through my many years of teaching experience alongside deep understanding in Science and Maths (being a PhD graduate), I know exactly the misconceptions and common mistakes students often make and emphasize such strongly to them. Moreover, I enable students to appreciate what they are learning now by telling them how they are applied in real life applications or how they are related to what they are going to learn in future, piecing learning parts together into a full picture. During my Secondary 4 year, I tutored my Vietnamese hostel mates in O Level English, and their grades improved from a C5/C6 average to a B3 at O Levels. Subsequently, I tutored on a pro bono basis in my JC1 year, while volunteering with Marine Parade CC. I tutored primary school students in all school subjects and helped them with their homework. After A levels, I worked full-time as a tutor at a tuition center and taught mostly primary school and secondary school students in English, Malay and Maths. My primary school students saw improvement in their grades (from a C to a B) in both English and Malay, while the secondary school students saw a similar improvement in Maths.

I’m currently tutoring a student this year for sec 4NT math and science as well. I’ve also taught a P2 student tamil in 2017 for a year. Helping my sister too who’s in secondary 1 express this year School Attended: Townsville primary, Yio Chu Kang Sec innova JC, I being a student from Sec 1 NA who got promoted to sec 2 express understand the problems students are facing with the current syllabus and will be able to cater to them through the angles that I've found easy to learn. Especially for math and Tamil, I’ve topped the cohort in secondary 1 and hence will be able to guide the student well. I’m also helping my sister who’s in secondary school currently and hence am well informed of the current syllabus. I also understand that education is the best bargaining chip in attaining a decent career in the future and will be Glad to help.
