Dear Parents, I am writing to express my interest teach as a Chinese language tutor. With a bachelor’s degree from Waikato University in New Zealand and a master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation from Nanyang Technological University, I possess a strong academic foundation in language studies. Currently, I am in the final stages of completing my diploma in teaching Chinese Language at the Confucius Institute. This comprehensive program has equipped me with the necessary pedagogical skills and strategies to effectively teach Chinese as a second language. I have had the opportunity to gain practical teaching experience over the past six months, where I have been teaching Chinese to students of various age groups and proficiency levels. My students have ranged from Primary 3 to Secondary level, allowing me to adapt my teaching methods accordingly to suit their specific needs and learning styles. During my teaching tenure, I have successfully implemented engaging lesson plans that fostered an interactive learning environment. By utilizing multimedia resources, interactive activities, and incorporating real-life scenarios, I aim to make language learning enjoyable and relatable for my students. Tutoring for more than 20 years I’ve helped students improve several grades at least, usually after at least six months of tuition. Good results have been an improvement from C6 to A1 for English after 1.5 yrs of tuition. From my experience, the key is motivating the student to be interested in the subject matter and to teach good answering techniques to maximise results. My JC students were from Tampines Meridien JC. E grade to a B for A-lvls, last yr. This yr, private candidate retaking, formerly from HCI.
