I am a full time undergraduate student from the national university of Singapore, pursing a degree in chemistry. Last semester, I actively volunteer for my halls’s Salvation Army programmes which involves providing tuition for the less fortunate children. I currently teach several primary school students math and science, 2 of which are siblings from nan hua primary and 2 secondary school students (Sec 2 exp math and science). I focused on building their foundation from scratch and lesson engagement in particular. Prior to tutoring while completing my university course, I have done tutoring as a poly student as well. I have taught a primary 3 boy diagnosed with autism math and science as well as a private candidate chemistry and biology. Despite his short attention span, I manage to pull his math grades up by one grade. I was also offered to teach part time at imatter learning center but rejected the offer due to internship commitments during my final year in poly. Nevertheless, I went through the tutor training there before. My teaching approach mainly consists recalling what was taught in the previous lesson, following the planned knowledge checklist and then testing the student’a understanding of what has been taught.

I tutored a group of 4 students during a peer tutoring program in IB. I helped them improve on the 3 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry both Higher Level and Standard Level. They made great improvements from obtaining grades 4 & 5 in prelim exams to grades 6 & 7s in the actual IB exam. I also have experience with teaching primary school children when I volunteered at a childcare center, providing tuition for children after school for any subjects they are weak in. I am currently having tuition with a P6 Math student.

I have been giving chinese tuition to primary and secondary school students to help them prepare for PSLE and O levels. Also, I give conversational mandarin lessons to beginners and foreigners who are keek to pick up or further improve in the language. My last sec 4 student (2019) whom I taught for two years and graduated from SST went from failing his chinese to scoring a C5 in his o levels and a Merit for Oral. Another sec 4 Indian boy (2018) of mine scored an A2 for his o level chinese.
