I am currently a year 3 undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, with a major in Sociology. I have always been keen on the sharing and imparting of knowledge and skills. Be it initiating study sessions with my friends or going on overseas community service trips to teach children English and Mathematics, I find it extremely rewarding to add value to the lives of others. During my final two years of my International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as well as during the first year of my National Service, I volunteered with the UPSTARS programme run by Ulu Pandan Community Centre to teach primary school children from underprivileged backgrounds. I taught them English and Mathematics on a weekly basis, tailoring lessons to match their learning abilities. I also went through their school work to ensure that what I was teaching was aligned with students' school curriculum, and to reinforce their learning by clearing any misunderstandings or doubts that they might have. To make lessons more engaging and memorable, I utilised learning tools such as toys and even arts and crafts to impart knowledge to the students. Moreover, to conclude lessons, I also taught students about mindfulness as well as tips on how to learn better as a bonus section of sorts. I am a strong believer in holistic education, so on top of making sure students pay attention to their academics, I also make the effort to find out about their hobbies and extracurricular activities to advice them on how to maximise their potential. During the course of the programme, I managed to ensure that the students I taught improved their grades. Most importantly, I ensured that students did not continue to fail. On average, students saw a marked improvement of about 20-30% in their grades for Mathematics and English.

I was teaching in Hillgrove Secondary school specialising in triple sciences Physics, chemistry and biology. Currently I am a tutor at coco education (tuition centre) I am an author of established author of 29 science books for pri, sec, IB and A-level My passion lies in teaching. I also used to work as a Science Educator at the Science Centre before I became a teacher. My forte’ is science. I used various approaches and get students interested in the subject and get them to understand facts and guide them towards excelling in the subjects taught. I used to be a freelance author at Educational Publishing House and have published 8 books, which are sold at Popular Bookstores island wide. I have tutored at Mind Stretcher as well and used to work as an Instructional Designer at Marshall Cavendish Education. As an Instructional Designer, I developed interactive elements that aid teaching and learning. It involves conceptualization, project management, analyzing market trends and competitor products as well as marketing these products to teachers in the local as well as International markets. I learnt a lot to have an eye for detail and work well as a team to meet deadlines in my current job.

However for PSLE, she scored a B. - (P5 Math): Started teaching in October, she scored a fail grade for her SA1 and improved to a 62 for her SA2. - (P4 English): My student was extremely weak in her English and she barely spoke any English as she isn't Singaporean. She was also bad at phonics. I started teaching her in April and she started to gain confidence in English and could speak without stuttering. Her score improved from a fail in English during SA2 the year before to 60 for her SA1. - (IGCSE English): Improved from a D during her mid-year examination to a B during her prelims. - (IB Grade 9 Sciences): Taught her a month before her mid-year examination and she improved from an E to a C for all 3 sciences - (Grade 10 English, SAIS): Improved from English as Second Language to English as First Language in just 6 months. - (Grade 6 English, SAIS): Improved from PCS class to mainstream class; Improved from A1 level to B1 level in just 8 months. - (Grade 6 English, SAIS): Improved from A2 level to B1 level in just 2 months. - (Grade 9 Math, AIS): Improved from E to C within a month - (Grade 9 Math, Nexus Intl): Improved from 5 to 7 within 2 months - (Sec 3 E.Maths): Improved from E8 for MYE to A2 for EOY - (Sec 4 E.Math): Improved from C5 for MYE to A2 for O levels. - (Grade 11 English): Improved from 5 to 7 in just 2 months.
