Ex-MOE teacher from Pei Tong Primary school. I left in 2017 and tutoring fulltime. I have taught many upper primary students. NIE trained in Eng and Maths. I am an ex-RI and ex-RJC student. I am a Maths specialist. I am a degree holder from NUS, Engineering. I am very familiar with the latest syllabus. I customise my teaching to each individual student's learning style. I have more than 8 years of experience as a tutor. I am a patient tutor and am understanding of the student of today. I am currently teaching several upper primary students in Maths, so I am familiar with common misconceptions and how to address them, especially heuristics and word problems. I do a study plan with the student to maximise the time and effort in studying. Through this, the student has the chance and ability to score the best grades for each exam throughout the year. I do diagnostic assessments every 2-3 months so I can assess how well the student is learning and also to identify areas of weaknesses to focus on. I use AI-like techniques to analyse mistakes/weaknesses in exams and focus on improving/strengthening these specific areas. As an IB and IGCSE graduate, I have scored 7s and A*s in Mathematics, giving me a good understanding of what mathematical concepts one would require to do well in an IB curriculum. Furthermore, I currently hold a masters degree in Biomedical Engineering so I have a deep understanding and appreciation of Mathematics. I employ the help of assessment books and self-tailored questions to further strengthen mathematical concepts. I believe that strong foundations in key concepts will make Mathematics much more easier and enjoyable for future advanced syllabuses. A past student I have taught was weak in abstract mathematical thinking. However, after hammering out key mathematical concepts, the student learnt advanced concepts a year above his current level and has continued to excel in Mathematics throughout middle school and Junior College.
