Experience
I'm Joseph, and I've had the pleasure of being a teacher with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for over 10 years. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the National University of Singapore and a Master's Degree in Education from NIE-NTU in Singapore. My teaching journey has allowed me to work in several fantastic government schools, including Clementi Town Secondary, Naval Base Secondary, Presbyterian High, CHIJ St. Joseph, and Farrer Park Primary. Throughout this time, I've had the joy of working with many wonderful students, ranging from those in the Normal Technical (NT) and Normal Academic (NA) streams to those in the Express (E) stream.
In addition to my experience in government schools, I have also taught full-time at several top international schools in Singapore, helping students from Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia succeed in their AEIS exams and transition into mainstream MOE schools. I have also taught at various top-notch tuition centers in Singapore. I am currently giving tuition, having dedicated over 10 years to private tutoring. During this time, I have employed proven techniques and strategies, including the use of online platforms like Zoom to conduct my lessons. I am proud to say that many of my students have achieved outstanding grades, with some earning prestigious awards and accolades from notable institutions. I have a collection of lovely reviews from parents and students that I’m excited to share with you upon request.
My passion lies in teaching Science, English, and Mathematics at the primary level, especially helping students prepare for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). At the secondary level, I enjoy teaching Sciences (S1 to S5) and Mathematics (Secondary 1 and 2). I am also trained to teach Biology, having had the pleasure of teaching this subject at MOE schools for several years. I strive to be patient and understanding, taking the time to get to know each child’s unique strengths and weaknesses.
I believe that a positive student-teacher relationship is the key to successful learning—it's something that grows over time through trust and understanding. After all, when you understand a child, you’re already halfway there!
