Experience
I am a passionate and experienced tutor who has worked with students across the primary, secondary, and junior college levels since 2022. My core strength lies in designing tailored, student-centric lessons that build confidence, deepen conceptual understanding, and develop strong exam techniques.
At the junior college level, I specialise in General Paper (GP), having tutored my juniors from Victoria Junior College (VJC) for over 1.5 years. I am highly familiar with the new GP syllabus, and have developed effective strategies for both Paper 1 (Essay) and Paper 2 (Comprehension). Having scored an ‘A’ consistently in every school and national GP exam I sat for — including Prelims and the A-Levels — I focus on equipping students with strong argumentative and analytical writing skills, source-based question (SBQ) techniques, and ways to build critical thinking. I provide clear essay structures, paragraphing models, and thematic frameworks that students can adapt for exam success.
At the secondary level, I was one of the few selected for MOE’s Junior College Teaching Internship Programme, where I taught English Language and Social Studies in a local secondary school. This hands-on experience gave me valuable exposure to curriculum design, lesson planning, and the realities of classroom teaching. I learned how to motivate disengaged learners, differentiate instruction based on ability, and facilitate inquiry-based discussions. Following this, I was awarded an MOE teaching scholarship to teach English, in recognition of my potential to lead and contribute meaningfully to the education sector.
At the primary level, I have been tutoring PSLE Science, Math and English 1-1 since 2022. I have worked with learners with dyslexia and ADHD, which has pushed me to develop creative, multimodal approaches to teaching. I integrate visual aids, storytelling, analogies, and interactive activities to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging. I believe in making learning both joyful and effective, and have seen several of my students grow significantly in both confidence and academic performance.
Across all levels, I aim to nurture independent, curious learners. My teaching style is friendly yet rigorous, encouraging yet structured. I prioritise building rapport and trust with each student, helping them not only improve their grades but also build the resilience and intellectual curiosity needed to thrive in the long-term.
