I began teaching tuition in March 2019, and taught a NA boy math and science for 5 months after. In the process, his science tests improved from 7/15 to 15/20. I also taught other students, ranging from P3 to Sec 4. I like to access a student's situation by identifying the immediate area of improvement needed, such as discipline, understanding of concepts, exam techniques etc. Then I will understand the goal of student by hearing from both parents and student, be it just passing the subject or aiming for a grade A. This allows me to keep my lessons more focused so the student can improve quicker. I had been taking up Higher Chinese since primary 3, after scoring 100/100 overall in P2. I then attained A* for Chinese and Merit for Higher Chinese in PSLE. I had also scored A for Chinese consistently in Nanyang Girls’ High School, achieving A2 for Higher Chinese in the 2016 O-levels. Last but not least, I was a recipient of the Special Assistance Plan (SAP) Scholarship, which is a programme focusing on nurturing not just bilingual, but bicultural talents. This scholarship required me to take up China Studies in Chinese as a H2 Subject in JC, which is a study of China's economy, society, politics and diplomacy. Hence, my mastery of the Chinese language has a certain degree of assurance. Relevant experience: I had taught a P3 girl Chinese in 2019.

I've been tutoring family friends for a while as an unofficial tutor. One person is a Korean student attending an international school as a freshman. Other tutoring sessions were for younger children, learning basic level English words and grammar. I usually help them with their homework, teaching them different methods and helping them to understand. I'd also create my own curriculums based off of how the "students" perform (if they think the work I give them is too easy, I try to challenge them). An important note is that I've learned through the AP curriculum, and, as such, my methodologies may be different from IB/GCSE methodologies (hence why I put my qualifications in the IB tab, per instruction of phone call). I hope to prioritize those students in the AP system, as I can give them better advice to succeed. If based on an AP curriculum, there are many online resources, such as AP Classroom and past AP-test FRQs and MCQs. One note that I was unable to include in the qualifications tab was my SAT score. I had a score of 1570, with an 800 Maths section and a 770 Reading/Writing section.

I had tutored a total of 17 A level students (from TJC, MJC, RI, DHS, VJC, YIJC, ACJC, CJC, SAJC, NYJC) before. For the year of 2020, I have 5 JC2 H2 Chemistry students, waiting for their results. Majority of my students made at least two grade improvement from their Mid-Year to Prelim to their A Level, where one of my students this year improved from S to C for prelim. My teaching style is that I will go through the content in detail that is required for the syllabus (and sometimes, content at JC/university level to prepare for O/A level, which has become a norm at national exam). I will provide notes and practice questions for the students.
