I have been giving tuition since 16 years old and have also taught at various tuition centres throughout the years e.g Tien Hsia, LearningMax and Edufarm. Being a parent, I am also relatively familiar with the school curriculum. I do not take in more than 2 students max at any point and actually prefer to just teach a single student throughout the year as trust and chemistry has to be built. Current students are from Geylang Methodist pri (p3 and p4 English /Chinese, collaboration with a social agency) and p6 (Kong hwa) with two of the students having learning disabilities. If you are looking for a very strict and fierce tutor, I am definitely not suitable as it is not my teaching methodology. I am a firm believer in empathy, patience and gradual building up of self directed and independent studying. My preferred timing would be weekends mornings.

I have been teaching private tuitions since 2017 during my university years as a part-time tutor, and now I converted to being a full-time private tutor, accumulated over 2000 hours of tutoring,  specializing in teaching Mathematics (incl competition). Since I have scored A1 for e-math, a-math and pure physics for my O Levels, and A for H2 Math & Physics for A Levels, I am very familiar with the syllabus and have my own handy methods of understanding the concepts and to be exam-smart. Over the years I have helped 6 O Level students, with the best from D7 to A1 in math. I have also taught 7 students in IB Math SL, 4 primary Math Olympiad students, including SASMO & NMOS. I have experience in teaching online classes for 6 overseas students applying for AEIS exams too, all have been successfully enrolled into international schools in Singapore. My way of teaching focuses on guiding, understanding and visualization of concepts while being very open minded to encourage my students to have their own interpretation of the concepts, rather than to spoon feed the students and overwhelm them with lots of homework. My students treat me as a friend more than as a teacher, and most of them find math more fun and easy to understand. I always customize practice papers for each of my students and help them make their own personalized notes. Each student is different and I always help each one of them target their own weaknesses without making them more stressful. My students prefer to do my homework then school homework, because the homework I give to them better suits them with less repetition on things they already know. They also like me because I listen to them, give them more attention and care than a school teacher who must consider the entire class. Many of my students actually said I am much more open minded and interesting to learn from. I am also able to teach bilingually since I am fluent in English and Mandarin is my mother tongue. My teaching experiences includes teaching English to two primary 4 students at a student care centre for a year. I also taught my primary 6 relative English comprehension before the PSLE period last year. Now, I write short summaries of philosophy topics for undergraduates in my school, which allows me to communicate my thoughts and essential tips for how to read texts and extract meaning from them. I also shared with these students good habits for writing with clarity, whether it be for essays, proposals, reports, or reflections on their project experiences. I take a guided self-learning approach to teaching, making sure that the student can familiarise with important but simple concepts and afterwards apply them to new questions. * not MOE-certified or full-time, just a undergraduate who wishes to help.

I’ve taught english and math to 2 students from primary all the way till secondary 4 level. Both (girl and boy) have obtained A grade for their exams. Currently, I am teaching student of upper primary school for math and english (home tution) so i am familiar with the school syllabus. I’m passionate to teach math to primary school level. I am also able to each english or science upon request/ need of student. Like kids and good with kids, I am able to interact with the child and cater my teaching method to her/him specific character. For leisure, I teach children Art as well to a class of primary-secondary school children. Comfortable teaching and arranging for bigger classes if needed, not an issue for me. Personally, I have 4 nieces & nephews from infant to primary level, comfortable around kids and familiar with school syllabus.
