I am an experienced Senior Special Educational Needs (SEN) educator with 15 years of experience supporting children with diverse learning and developmental needs in mainstream primary school settings. I hold a Master’s in Special Education from NIE, as well as a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Special Education (NIE) and a Diploma in Autism Studies. I am also trained in supporting students with dyslexia and literacy difficulties, including challenges in reading fluency, spelling, comprehension and written work. Over the years, I have worked closely with students with a range of learning, behavioural and self-regulation needs. My experience includes providing individual and small-group intervention, literacy support, classroom support, executive functioning and self-regulation strategies, as well as working collaboratively with teachers and parents to help children make meaningful progress. I have also conducted and led professional development for educators in areas such as dyslexia, autism, executive functioning and emotional regulation, and my Master's research explored the use of Microsoft Immersive Reader to support students' reading fluency and literacy development. As an Educational Therapist, I understand that children who struggle academically often need more than repeated practice. I take the time to understand how a child learns, identify where the difficulty lies, and break tasks down into clear and manageable steps. Sessions are structured and supportive while being adapted to the child's individual pace, strengths and needs. Most importantly, I aim to create a learning environment where children feel safe to make mistakes, experience success and gradually build confidence and independence. My goal is not simply to help a child complete their schoolwork, but to equip them with strategies that make learning feel more achievable.
