I have a few years of experience teaching primary school students to read and write as a part of a few volunteer organisations. The first was when I taught K2-P3 students to read as part of a reading programme, and the second was when I was part of a volunteer group, teaching underprivileged children to read and write and equipping them with skills to manage English in Primary 3 to Primary 5. These lessons were planned by me and other volunteers, and were conducted very interactively online due to the pandemic. I did see much improvement in my students nonetheless:) However, my biggest area of expertise as a English tutor I feel would be my understanding of how important practice is in acing English exams in primary school. I have still kept my own primary school compositions that scored 35 and above consistently as samples for students. I also got my own PSLE open-ended comprehension skills from getting a just pass at the beginning of my PSLE year to getting 15/20 to a 19/20 nearer to the exam, using some exam strategies that proved to be very, very helpful not just for me but for many people I passed on this knowledge too as well. My PSLE score was 271, with an A1 in all my subjects, with my English and Science both seeing a phenomenal increase in grades. I truly believe that although English seems like one of the most daunting subjects for Primary 5 and 6 students, it is one that can be quite easily aced with the right technique and lots of practice. I believe that I do have a plan for how this right technique can be employed by students without stressing them out too much, and I am very open to discussing the aforementioned technique in a free trial lesson, or on call with a student's parents.

I have been teaching one on one tuition for 5 years, specialising particularly in primary school math syllabus. I am currently teaching a primary 5 boy math, having followed him from P3 to P5. From the first semester that I taught him, his math grades jumped from a fail to a B+, and has consistently maintained at that grade or higher throughout my years with him. I have taught 5 students to date from various backgrounds: 1.Tutored a P1 indian boy Chinese, pulling his grades from a fail to consistently getting full marks for spelling, and a B+ and above for tests. I have incorporated games and play into my lessons to make learning enjoyable for him, helping him to look forward to lessons and absorb info even better. 2. Tutored a boy Chinese, Math, and Science from P3-P5, and across all 3 subjects, his grades jumped by one grade or higher, and he has consistently been achieving a B+ or higher. 3. Tutored a sec 2 girl Science. She was able to pull her grades from a fail to a B+ within one semester.

I have 1 year of experience doing volunteer tuition for 3 children with incarcerated parents. My students ranged from P3 to P6 and I predominantly taught them Math but they did come to me for questions about their other subjects as well. After taking them through the year, two of them were able to push up their grades from AL 3 to AL 1.
