Experience
I have over 10 years of teaching experience in tuition centres, student care centres, and private home tuition. I am able to teach all Primary school subjects, as well as Secondary English, Secondary Chinese, and Lower Secondary Mathematics.
I graduated from a SAP (Special Assistance Plan) school, where I studied both English and Chinese as first languages, giving me a strong bilingual foundation. I also obtained my Bachelor's degree from the University of Glasgow, UK, which further strengthened my English language proficiency, academic writing, and communication skills.
English
I help students build a strong foundation in English while preparing them for school and national examinations. My lessons focus on:
- Composition writing and essay planning
- Brainstorming and developing ideas
- Reading comprehension and passage analysis
- Vocabulary building and the use of expressive language
- Grammar, sentence structure, and examination techniques
I have taught English to both primary and secondary students. One of my Secondary English students from Gan Eng Seng School improved from 60 to 70.
Chinese
I studied Chinese Language and Chinese Literature at River Valley High School. Over the years, I have taught students from schools such as Tao Nan School, Singapore Chinese Girls' School (SCGS), and Anglo-Chinese School (ACS), including students from English-speaking or non-Chinese-speaking families.
Many students initially struggle with comprehension, sentence construction, and expressing themselves in Chinese. I build their foundation step by step, enabling them to understand, appreciate, and use the language with confidence.
My students have achieved notable improvements. For example:
- An ACS student improved from failing Chinese to scoring over 60 marks.
- A student from SCGS improved her Chinese grades from the 60s to the 80s through consistent guidance and targeted practice.
I believe every student can improve with the right guidance. My teaching approach is patient, structured, and tailored to each student's learning style. Beyond helping students achieve better grades, I aim to build their confidence, strengthen their understanding, and develop a genuine interest in learning.
