I am a tutor who has struggled badly with academics when I was younger and so I understand the perspective of a student who is struggling academically. I feel that my experience would make me a more empathetic and suitable tutor, especially for students who are demoralised about their grades. My primary aim is to cater my teaching style to the student's specific needs alongside motivating and befriending the students, making sure that they know their tutor is there for them and is genuine in helping them to achieve their desired grades. I had to learn the proper study method by myself and applied this to my students. For your reference, I had 12/90rp i my first JC year. I had made the hard decision to retain to re-solidify my basics which had allowed me to push my grades up to 85/90rp with no tuition and clinched a few JC subject awards. I hope that my experience can serve as motivation for my students, no matter what their standing is in school. The following are my short yet applaudable tutoring experience: 1) During my time in JC, I tutored an N/A student and bumped her grades for Chemistry and Math from F9 (both) to A1 and A2 respectively. 2) Also during JC, I taught another Express student Chemistry and managed to push his grades from barely passing to an A1. 3) After my A Levels I also taught a Primary 6 student Visual Arts and his technical stills have improved tremondously from when he first came in. My teaching style emphasizes a lot on drilling on basic concepts before proceeding to more difficult concepts and questions as I believe that once the student's foundation is solidified, higher level questions are easier to tackle. I also "study" the students mistakes after class hours and curate my own papers for the student to do in order to eliminate careless mistakes. Apart from this, the student can also message me questions anytime ! As I am still an undergraduate, the student can best be sure that my sole attention is on him/her as I can only afford to squeeze in time for one student while juggling university :-) Flexible on providing zoom lessons when needed. If needed, I can dig out my internal school examination grades upon request! I seek understanding that due to unfortunate circumstances, my official SEAB examination results may not be as good as my internal school grades. But rest assured that I am extremely motivated to push my students, as seen by my previous record.
