Ian started teaching and coaching since 1995. In the past 30 years, he has trained students from lower Primary to tertiary institutions in areas like interviewing skills, resilience and motivational skills, studying skills, memory skills, time management, goal setting, etc. He holds a B.Sc(Hons) in Computational Science and Mathematics from NUS. He has taught students in both local and international schools. He is familiar with GCE ‘O’ level, IGCSE, MYP, IB SL, Engineering Mathematics. After seeing his students struggle both in academics and non-academics aspects in life, he started to explore different ways of coaching, communicating and interacting with his students to change their mindsets. It brings him great satisfaction to make a life changing impact to his students. He believes strongly that everyone is a genius and has talents in his or her own respective fields. Being an avid learners himself, he has continued his learning and is now a certified Hypnotherapist, Self Hypnosis teacher, NLP Practitioner, Access Bar Practitioner, ACTA certified and Enneagram Practitioner. I'm specialised in Maths for Sec 1 to 4 Prior to that was with Oodles Learning for 10 years, now teaching with Instic Academy for 3 years. My focus now is tutoring students from Sec 1-5. I have coached many students from F9 to A1/2. One of my strengths is I am able to connect to students, motivate them and bring up their self-esteem. I am a certified NLP Practitioner, Access Bar Practitioner, 5 PATH Hypnotherapist, and hence I am able to use different modalities in my communcations with the students. My style of teaching varies depending on the tutees' learning styles. I have also coached students with learning disability like dyslexia, ADHD, ADD. A few students have also gotten the most improved award in school for Mathematics. I have been teaching a student in Sec 4 currently in both bio and chem since last year, and her grades have improved from a fail in bio to a B, and from an average student to one of the top few in her class in chem.

I have been trained by NIE for four years, and have gained important skills and knowledge on the teaching and learning of primary school English, Mathematics and Science through my stint there as a student teacher. <br> <br> I have also had teaching experiences in various primary schools in Singapore,<br> teaching classes assigned by the relevant Heads of Departments (Primary 1 - Primary 6) and have taught GEP and SAP schools such as St Hilda's Primary School and Poi Ching School. I am well-experienced with customising my teaching and learning materials to my learner's learning needs, learning styles and personality.<br> <br> <br> I have 7 years experience of private home tutoring to date, guiding mostly young learners in the Primary School level. I started engaging in private home tuition as I find it very fulfilling when interacting with these young learners one-on-one, as I am able to focus all my attention on them and most importantly cater to individual learning needs, unlike teaching in schools which I do as a profession.<br> <br> Throughout my journey, I have learnt and gained invaluable teaching and learning experiences and wish to get more opportunities to guide young learners through private home tuition as it is more personal for them as well as for me. I have always had a passion for teaching and for children. Hence, tutoring individuals through the one to two hour sessions allows me to customise my teaching as well as teaching materials to suit my young learner's unique learning needs.
