I've been a private tutor for 3 years and I usually teach mathematics, sometimes chem/sci. Taught students in primary, secondary(mostly neighbourhood schools) as well as tertiary(uniSIM) levels. Grade improvements are subjective, but on average my students make a full letter grade improvement.

Back in school, I was the Student of the Year for my cohort in Yishun Town Secondary School. I was in National Cadet Corps (NCC) as my CCA and through the years, my passion for teaching grew. I didn't have an O Level Certificate because I was from the pioneer batch of Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) whereby we scored excellent results in our N(A) examinations and emerged as the Top 10% in Singapore. I have my own way of teaching as through the years, i have been self-teaching myself and it allows me to understand the concepts better than what i learn in school.

I had done peer tutoring for my secondary school juniors as an alumni in the past. Currently I have one sec 2 student from Unity Secondary School. I am teaching her combined science. I can't remember her actual scores for her test but she jumped from doing average in class to being one of the top 3 now for that subject

I have been teaching the primary level as full-time tutor since August 2014 till date. Prior to that when I was studying, I had also taught part-time for 2 years. My students are mainly of Primary 3 to Primary 6 for Mathematics and Science. One of my student had usually fared borderline pass (e.g. 26/50) prior to my teaching when she was in Primary 3. She gradually improved to being able to achieved 41/50 in the year-end exam for Primary 4.

One of my P3 student scored 56/100 for SA2 before I started teaching. Under my tutelage, in P4 she got 67/100 for SA1 and 78/100 for SA2.
Another P5 student usually fail or borderline pass (48~52), but after 5 months of tuition with me since January, SA1 she got her result at 69/100.

Every child has different learning ability due to their attention span and way of acquiring knowledge. I often update the parents on their child's progress so that they'll be able to know their child's weakness and guide them along (supervision over homework) while I'm not at their place for lesson.
