My experience as a relief teacher in two primary schools has sparked my interest in helping students to better grasp the Chinese language. I believe strongly in strengthening the language through exposure and practice. My method of coaching will focus on Chinese grammar, which is a commonly neglected aspect of the language that helps in the clear expression of ideas. Vocabulary wise, I believe should go beyond textbooks.

I have tutored primary school students(a variety of subjects) for three years and stopped for half a year as I was away for exchange. I taught at Beacon and Kranji primary school as relief Teacher in 2015. I hope to focus on secondary school Chinese this time round. I have interned at MediaCorp Chinese News and came from River Valley High school so I have a reasonable standard of the Chinese language. Currently I have not taught any secondary school Chinese before though.

I used to tutor my friends and my sister in sec sch. Mainly emath/amath and sometimes english. They're from tkgs and crescent girls respectively. My sister was scoring C5 in her sch for emath and she got B3 for emath in her Os. My friends were scoring ard C5/C6 for amath in sec sch. And they improved to ard B3 for Os. I also tutor them composition, where they were scoring ard 15-17/30 during mye and they scored ard 18-20/30 during finals.

2 years of peer tutoring, I taught my juniors in Sec 4 for their Higher Chinese. I am from River Valley High School, my juniors are from the same school as me. She had B3 for Higher Chinese, she improved to A2 after receiving my consults. I did not see her till O-Level because I was preparing for Prelims for A-Level.

I have 1.5 yrs of tutoring experience. I had to stop tutoring my student as his schedule can only allow weekdays tuition. I started teaching him English, Chinese and Science when he was primary 3. His foundation in languages was very weak but constant guidance and focus allowed him to improve not only in his speech but creative writing too.
My student is from Pei Chun Public School, a primary school located in Toa Payoh. His grades are now around 70-80 marks on average, an improvement from the 50-60s.
